This is kind of a pet peeve of mine. I have played a ton of outstanding real courses for the 08 game and have realized that 90% of them do not have the correct hole handicaps. I just wonder why most designers do not take the extra couple minutes to add the handicaps to the course. It goes a long way adding to the reality of the course. Most of the real course designers are very thorough but seem to miss out on this small detail. Any thoughts? |

Laziness, thinking no one pays attention, I guess. I am one of the biggest offenders of that... Good point Bobby, I will have them in, on my next course..:)
Didnt you use to have a little tutorial for adding hole yardages and handicaps to the course? If you still have it, please upload it for the future, I know I will use it..
Oh, I do see a tut for the ini. file |

I'll post here and check to see if I have the tutorial tomorrow.
Compile Course (no need to have structures/trees/reflection etc.) Go to the position.ini file in the CA folder Right click and go to Properties Check the box that says "Read Only" Go into the file and change your hole handicaps to what you want them to be. (It will say handicap=1 or whatever. All you have to do is change the number) Save the file Compile (with everything) You are finished
(Make sure to uncheck the "Read Only" box when you release the course or else your next one is gonna be a real mess) |

I too change the Hcp's to the correct ones via the position.ini file. However, I have not got a solution to fixing the correct yardages to show in the game scorecard for TW08. Has anyone a fix for this? |

The way we are playing here you might want to throw the clubs in the lake. If you throw the clubs in the lake, you might miss the lake.
No course in the works: retired. |

I might be wrong, but i believe the .ini file must have exact the same name as the coursefile (; .tcr ) For example:
Augusta08.tcr......then the ini file must be named: Augusta08.ini
When the names are matching, install the course in TW08 with TWCaddie08, and the correct yardages should show up. |

agree re: identical names needed, not sure about twcaddie, but clsetup will give an error type message and offer to fix the ini file name
hole handicaps (ie stroke index) accuracy is nice
hole pars can also be corrected via the position.ini file but IMO, easier to adjust the last shot path ie to change a par 5 to a par 4, last shot path should end less than 480 yards hole distance will still be calculated tee to green though
http://www.coursedownloads.com/extras/details.asp?id=679 above is the Ini File tutorial, in the tw08 utilities, tutorial section originally done by Homeboy

In my opinion the best option is to go for a nvidia graphics card , the nvidia graphics cards are working great on TW08. When you are on XP go for nvidia card with at least 512 mb memory. When you are on win7 or win8, go for nvidia card with 1gb memory. I tried nvidia cards on xp, win7 and win8 and they all work great. Even the newer released nvidia cards are working perfect on TW08.

Thanks. Guess the 715 yard hole will have to be a par 5 then :) |
