I laid out all 18 on a new real course and before doing any work to the plot have terrible frame rates. I tried changing textures and even tried making the main plot fairway and didnt help. I went back to where I had only one hole laid out and still just as bad. I cropped the edges and still bad.
Is there any fix for this?
Thanks....Bill |

Bill,
I've had this happen to me on real and fantasy plots.. i wish I knew why it happened but I don't.
I have fixed it, believe it or not, by going back to a save before any compiling was done and adding a small pond in the corner of the plot somewhere, any texture, any size, although I usually make it about the size of an average tee box.
I'd be interetsed to know if it works for you if you wanna try it.
I usually do it while laying out the first hole so try going back that far.

Went back to original tca after the TA put the elevations in. No shapes at all on it. I hit the ctrl+alt+T key and the mesh is perfect. I added a tee and green and one shot path and pin. Compiled fast and game loads fast but still the same 60ish fps.
Do you want me to just draw a pond shape or flatten it etc?
This sucks.
Thanks...Bill |

Just try going back before you compiled and add a little pond (;like we use to do with the ocean textures in 07)....put it anywhere, dont need to flatten it... use any pond texture and drop it, make a tee, fairway and green and compile it.
I know it sounds nuts but its worked for me before on several occasions with the exact same problem...
if it doesnt work, try reloadin a new plot, do your first hole and add a pond.
it hope it works for you Bill |

Ok. Went to TA. Redid flat plot 2740 x 2760. Added terrain to flat. Added a pond and one hole. compiled and stiill bad fps.
I then remembered that you have to keep the plot less than like 2500? in each axis or you get that plain green band on the top or right. And I think that is what causes lag.
So I cropped that area out of the flat plot with the one hole. FPS went to 120. Better but I usually get 300 fps on a new course.
So wondering if I need to go a little tighter on the coordinates and get a new dem so there are no bands in the first place.
I will keep you posted.

So I got tighter coordinates and got a new DEM. Plot is now 2360 x 2340 so no more bands.
Added a single hole and 80 FPS :(
Added a pano and got 125. Weird a pano adds FPS.
Just not sure I want to put anymore time into this project and end up with bad lag.

Ya...youd probably end up in the mid to low 50s tops id guess..depends on how beefy your rig is compared to what other folks are playin on.
Have you tried some custom textures or different stock textures? When I started Meddle with all stock rough I was getting around 100 - 150 which is low for me... I changed to Johnson Farms and it shot up into the upper 200s....then I added stocks back in and it really didnt drop much
I seriously think that some projects are just cursed by the CA and doomed from the start.
Unless anyone else has an Idea, Id scrap it Bill as there is no way Id start a project that is 1/3 my normal FPS. |

I never knew that abut the green band...I hate it when a plot goes bad like this one is for you....can't you get a new plot and just re-import all the shapes you drew? |

I tried a new dem and plot and didnt help much.
I tried a stock fairway texture for main plot and didnt help.
The course is Bethpage Black and I really wanted to do a nice job on this one :(
Still may try and see what happens.
Thanks all....Bill |

The band appears at either 2700 yards or maybe 2725 |

I have gone over 2500 for each dimension on quite a few courses. I noticed the green band as mentioned but I cannot say that it ever caused lag on those courses. |

I gave up on it. I didnt want to put alot of time into it to have poor frames.
Curios how the CGX version plays this year.
