After showing off my bunker method, I was asked to do one similar for tees, so here it is. The pics are in a zip file this time to save me making multiple posts.
This is how I would make a tee complex on a hillside which is sloping down towards the fairway and also from right to left.
Pic 1 - Place however many tees you want making sure they are aligned with the shotpath, they can be square, round, oblong irregular but you need to make sure they are at least 20 foot wide, so as to accommodate any tee markers you want to place.
Pic 2 - Use the tee as a shape and expand 6 foot or so, then flatten it. I like to flatten to average as I think it gives a more natural look, but you can flatten to maximum or minimum if you prefer.
Pic 3 - Then draw a bigger shape round it and smooth like mad. You will need to repeat this 3 or 4 times (;Flatten smooth) until you are happy with the look. Before you delete the 2 extra shapes you made run the cursor over the whole tee area making sure it is ABSOLUTELY flat.
pic 4 - repeat these steps for all the other tees. In this case as they are fairly close together I can smooth them all at the same time.
Pic 5 - More or less done, but there are some slopes that look a bit extreme for my liking. so Im going to smooth them out a little, taking care that none of the shapes i use infringe on to the tees.
Pic 6 - Done. This is a fairly steep hill so the difference in levels of the various tees is quite severe. Normally I would make the slope a bit less but for the purpose of this little demo, Ive left it as is so the pictures show the results fairly clearly.
Here endeth todays lesson. |
