Hi,
I am having a problem with my latest course, I am getting this large texture and it shows up on every hole. My brother built me a clubhouse, thats when i started seeing the texture in the background. when i compile without the club house the texture is gone. I also tried this, i put the club house back in and compiled without trees and bushes and the texture was gone. So its either the clubhouse or the trees. Not sure. Any help from someone that creates libs would be appreciated. Thanks

Mike, That is when the poly count of objects and or plants exceeeds 65K. there is no way to find out what the poly count actually is. Since it surfaced when you guys added the clubhouse it could be high poly count on that putting it over the top. Have him send me the 3ds/Max file over next door, or at least the poly count from the project. I can also optimize poly counts in 3ds similar to how you optimize course shapes.

Thanks jmeier, the poly count on the clubcomplex was 16988, i have it down to 4532, uvw mapping needed to be redone, still have some optimizing to do on more structures, with future projects the polygon counter will always be open.
Thanks for the help.

Mark, I try to keep objects below 3K, sometimes for an elaborate clubhouse 5K but rarely push it beyond that

This complex is the largest ive worked with, ive tryed to keep polys low as much as i can without loss of detail by optimizing certain objects sepeately,it shows up good in the game now. Included is a pic of the area so far. Many thanks for your help and input.

Galleries, plants, and structures all add to the poly count of objects. it is a total of all of these. How many plants are on the course as well as how many structures total. Also what libraries are being used. Certain libraries are really high poly count. Bushes and other small plants are as well.

Are others seeing these same artifacts on your course?

My brother is seeing it in testing. I have the galleries at 100% density, going to bring it down to 50, see if that works. here is a pic of the libs and point count with 16 holes done.

Sorry, I meant on a completely different rig then yours. Could it be a video card issue or are we way beyond that point?

my brother tested this on his comp. were twins but live in different states.
I put the gallerie density at 50, added pgax cars, (6) and the texture wall came back. took the cars out and the texture was gone. I dont think its my video card as I have never seen this before. To much icandy maybe. going to leave the cars out.
My video card is a Radeon HD 4550 (512meg)

You are probably right Mike. Asking the CA and the game to do too much. Sometimes it just seems unable to cope, difficult to explain at times.

Hey Mike...Had the exact same problem as you did in your first screen shot on one of my designs....Jmeier and Jimi both told me it was a structure issue....I deleted some trees and a bulkhead structure around a lake...and the problem went away...I just deleted one structure at a time..and got it to work...sometimes you can use textured walls instead of structures...

Mike, it is not your machine. It is a limit of the game. 65000 poly's is the limit in this old engine. Also you can thin out plants back in the perimeter. Remember the rule on plants also. It uses more resources to use 10 different plants for a total of say 500 than it does to have 500 using 2 or 3 different plants. The same is true for structures. Each unique structure uses resources. So I try to keep plants down to say 10-15 max different ones. And do the same for houses. If I am doing a course heavy with houses I will make a structure maybe containing 3-6 actual houses in one object. One you get a good feel with what you can do, you can start to push the limits more and load up with plenty of eye candy and detail.

I am using 2 libs for trees, 5 trees and 4 bushes. I have all the structures laid down and the wall came back. I have a microphone by the tee boxes on every tee, when i took those out the texture was gone. think its good now as i have no more stuctures to lay down. just some trees on 18.
Thank you all for your help and input. This has been a very frustrating course, but I have learned a lot.
