No need for anyone to reply since I cured on my own. |

Howdy all -
So far I have gotten all course design tools to work in Win7 Pro 64bit except Terrain Assist. Tonight when I tried to load a DEM that I made using Homeboys simplified tutorial for TA, end up getting an error:
Runtime Error 105 - File does not exist at line 256
I think it must be the .hdr file because I can open the demo .hdr file (;that came with the program) with no issues.
Doing some research on the RT Error 105 code shows that it is a Windows issue, i.e., Windows simply cant proceed with the application command and points to issues with the Registry. I think the latter is bogus. Doing this also crashes TA.
I guess I can try the process over again;; apparently I didnt do something right with the data.
If anyone has had similar experiences, I would appreciate comments/suggestions.
Thanks all and so many thanks for those who run this site and contribute. MG3927
UPDATE: As I suspected, it had nothing to do with Windows. I repeated the process, creating new files which worked fine. |

Hi magic I do not think this is just a Windows 7 issue, I have had this error lots of times in Windows XP. The only solution I have found is just to re-do the dem and the course pic stages and then draw the shapes while the file is still open. On some courses I have had to do this more than once. Hope this helps. |

Hi, I use Windows 7 Pro 64 bit and also have a dual boot with XP 32 bit. Terrain Assist works fine in both for me. In fact, since Terrain Assist is more or less a "non-installed" program, meaning it is not installed, but runs on it's own, I use the same files for both operating systems. But even with that, if I create a project in Win 7 and import a dem, and then try to open that project in XP I get the same message. I have to have the project separate for each operating system. So if, by chance, you started the project on another system or computer, you will not be able to open it, except for the original system.
This may not have anything at all to do with your problem. If not, then make sure that when you are in 3dem, you MUST convert to a NAD27 or NAD83 projection or TA will not know what to do with it. |

Keep in mind, I THINK you will also get that error if you forget to rename your TCA file.. Been a while, that's all I remember....
Hope it helps.. |

Howdy all -
Thanks much for your input;; will help. I did find out it has nothing to do with Win 7, as I and you all also thought. I re-did the dem and it worked fine. Sure wish I could both create and compile in Win 7. Currently, I create in Win 7 with CA and then copy over the tca file to another instance of CA I have running virtually in Win XP;; this works fine. I would run CA virtually as well, but it is slowwwwww;; I might increase the memory (;currently allocated 2GB of the 4GB I have installed). I can do everything else in Win 7 now, so no big deal. Tanks gain everyone. MM
Btw...I have tried compiling in Win 7 Pro 64bit but was just starting out and didnt know at the time about problems using Vista to compile and the need to use XP. Ive seen references now that Win 7 also should not be used to compile. Can anyone confirm this or report success compiling in this OS? |

I have used Virtual XP as well. You are right about it running sloooowwwww! In fact, that is why I run the dual boot so I can just reboot in XP instead of dealing with virtual XP and the way it renames all the hard drives and such. |
