I am thinking of going down to the sea for my next project. I am seeking any advice on ocean textures. I assume using Pebble Beach or Kiawah libs would be the way to go. I have not looked at doing a custom water texture. I think I have seen some custom water libs out there, are they any account for ocean?

I may not do the ocean thing in the end, Im just mulling it over. This kind of inspired me...

It looks like it may be Cape Kidnappers, which is apparently one tough course in New Zealand.

The only ocena textures that I know of that may work are the two you mentioned here Nutty. I tried a couple of older ones, but they didn't look right, or I had trouble in game with them.

I don't use ocean textures, I use pond instead, oceans don't reflect and the ball doesnt splash when you go in.

Thats certainly a stunning piece of land, look forward to seeing what you make of it.

DING! We have a winner. No way am I going all the way real if I do somthing this. It takes me four months just to pull off a fantasy. We'll see what happens, there's a lot of inspiration there. I a bit worried that the point count may be a problem.

Here is the problem with using pond textures. If the ocean is big enough where it's either the base texture or big enough where you can't see to the other side the water takes FOREVER to render, which brings the necessity for ocean textures. When I get home I will let you know which texture I am using on a similar course. Also, you may be able to make your own ocean texture if you can't find a suitable one.

May I add a little advice. Plan this one out carefully as oceanside courses can be extremely difficult to fix if you mess up early. If you need any help let me know.

Cape Kidnappers has already been done for TW08 by Hiker Bob, excellent course but quite heavy for low end machines.

This is another spectacular Kiwi course, Kauri Cliffs if you looking for even more inspiration.

I do believe that there are sheep on Homeboy version of Cape Kidnappers.

I like the look of your course. Keep up the good work. Wow would be an understatement.
