I think I read in one of the course designer tutorials that you should leave at least 200 yards around a course to avoid seam problems but I have just noticed on one of the forum answers that one designer leaves 500 yards. On my first course I have used 200 yards and it was not enough to prevent the seam showing in some ball cam shots so I have had to use a screen of tall trees to hide the seam. I increased the space above and to the right of the plot but it will involve too much extra work to move the holes on the left and bottom of the plot. If you use 500 yards does this not leave a large blank area between the course and the pano or does CA use the space to lay the pano at a certain distance from the course? Best regards, Jim Brown (Jimbo63). |

I'm not sure how far the pano is from the course, but as far as the blank areas go, just plonk down a few hills and trees to fill up those empty spaces. I often just use a stock pano, ie no visible pano and use the surrounding terrain instead to provide the backdrop. I try to leave 300+ round the course, 200 just isn't enough IMO.

Neil is right, at least 300yds. I am using even more to start, because you can always trim off what you don't want. But sometimes it's a hassle to have to add. And you can save, then trim, and if you don't like it, you can always go back to the saved version and start again.. So I see nothing wrong with starting with 350 to 500 yds extra, then trim later..:) |

Thanks for the replies, I will start from that basis on the next course I attempt. Best regards, Jimbo63. |
