In the pursuit of better design, I would like to inquire: When designing a course, what are the general considerations for placing OOB lines?
Is there a standard in-bounds allowance outside the fairway for playability, regardless of conditions? Or is it up to the designer?
Should I always add a certain amount of playable rough beyond a fairway?
Any other ideas about how to handle boudaries? Any opinions, peeves, etc.
Does a generous fairway compensate for a tight boundary at the edge of that fairway?
I look forward to your answers. |

I dont use OB lines unless the course dictates it, which I havent come across yet.
I like narrow fairways and heavy rough, no OB. |

Ditto, I only use it on real courses where I know there is actually an OOB.
