dang it... I have this thing going on, the geometry is bugging me. I have three holes that appear to be downhill to the FW and green. The tees are raised and level. A check with the ruler even shows a 2 foot drop off just in front of the tee. And still the default tee camera view shows a blind tee shot. It's driving me nuts. What do I have to do to see fairway from the tee?
I have never liked the camera agle on the tee. It seems to be 3 feet off the ground and 8 feet behind the player. It seems like a more natural angle would be closer to eye level and up a bit! |

This morning I've been playing around with side project I want to do while building a real course too. I'm in beginning stages of coming up with game-plan with how to build this course idea in CA, and would love to have some cool views off the tee. I'm getting the blind tee shot on test hole happening just like you showed Nuttywood. I figured me putting the tee's 60 ft higher than spot in fairway where drive goes would be high enough to get those views, but no dice with all that..... :(
Going to try to raising the tee like Bobby said to do or drop ground right in front of tee box a good bit because I would like to have that cool staggered look into hill side with tees boxes. Think that looks looks pretty cool on courses I've played before in TW. Got many things to test out on practice plots before moving ahead, and hopefully I can find a working solution for this. I've seen some breath taking views on customs before, but didn't take notice to how they where done.
Seems the camera views TW gives in game kinda leans back while looking up more towards sky, but not sure with all this. I could only only using F key get the views I would like to have off tee
Here is picture showing view of the tee being 60 ft up from fairway, and I couldn't believe 60ft wasn't enough to get view down fairway

Her eis picture of me usign F key to show the kinda of views I lileke to have. Would even like to have more view than this but didn't want to have to go up 100ft to get.....LOL
Guess one could cheat the tee box to lean a little back to front, I suppose. That would effect game-play I think, and from what I've come to learn, TW players like falt tee boxes big time.
View I like to have in game without having to use F key

This is showing how I kinda want to stagger tee's into hill side on holes into the mountain side, and I think I will take that whole ground section down a bunch in front of tee's to see what kind fo view this gives.

Your on the right track now, Squirrelman, since the tee view is so low and we can't change that, you either raise the tee box, or excavate the terrain in front of it.. :) |

OK, I will keep these lessons in mind. I tried making huge hole in front of tee's just to see what happened, and this opened the view up to good views.
Only problem now is I guess one has to do same where drive distance goes so approach shot can have cool views down to green too like it is off the tee. I played around with serious elvations when I 1st started CA, but got away from it after it overwelmed me very much so, while trying to build a course on it. Now I want to do a course with cool views like I've seen while playing other courses(Poppy Hills is one of my favotrie courses). Plus, with this course I need to learn how to blend a course with evaltions throughout the whole course, and put cool structures like I've enjoyed on other courses. I think it's neat when I'm on the tee while playing a course, and I can see down the fairway real good, and ther are cool bridges, building, fences, or other things like this. I find myself looking out off the tee saying to myself............ " WOW, this is awesome !!!!! " Then I soak up the cool vibes for a bit before smacking the ball down the fairway.
Here is picture below showing different view with huge hole slapped right in front of tees, but I've found out the ground will slope much more outside the shape compared to the little slopes I've made beforehand. Going to try to not make to many crazy hills on actual playing part, and trying to do this is most likely going to make me go more gray haired than I am now...... LOL

Oh yeah, I'm not the best with explaining things because I have trouble putting thoughts into words, but here is what I was trying to explain in above post with tee's getting dragged into hole. From what remember I wasn't even real close to the tee shapes themselves while drawing hole shape, but that huge hole swallowed up surrounding ground like a hungry animal. Will look with camera to see things in CA when I do this again because I didn't notice it until I got in game.
Picture showing tee's starting to get swallowed up by hole

OK Yes indeed my friend, the saves will save us all without question. This is just a practice plot to figure things out, but I kinda wish I saved more on this test plot I did Saturday. I kinda like the way it turned out, and hopefully I can recreate the feel. I made a practice hole close to this idea when I first started CA, and have wanted to try make a course like it ever since then, but trying to find the right bunker style is giving me fits.
I coming to find out it's a tough challenge trying to stay the same with everything on a course, and I think I need to make notes with how I do things so I can go back to follow it. My organization going into a design needs to improve.
Here a picture form backside of that hole, and I gotta test some things to see how I can get the view like the tee box view is on second shot too. It's the same problem has tee camera angle with the approach shot on this hole too. Putting a hole(drop off)hole idea at least seems it would make it possible to have cool views on whole hole without having to drop every hole 150ft from tee to green. Seems it would be hard to get the right distance for dip down hole on fairway where approach shot need to be because players hitting different distances off tee. Hmmmmmmmmm

I and almost everyone agree in regards to the camera. However, you can adjust every camera and save. The only thing is, it will only change for you, not for others. I noticed your grass in front of the tee is extremely tall. Change the texture at that spot to normal and it should help. Also, you can raise the tee box with the 2 shape method. I personally, would raise it 3 or 4 feet using the method shown below. Notice how I have the shapes offset to the tee box. That is to help make the transition seem more gradual except for right in front of the tee. Also, place your tee marker biased closer to the front edge of the tee box than the rear. Hope that helps.
And Squirrely - stop hijacking the post - lol. Start a new one for your stuff. Some peoples kids - lol. |
