I just stumbled upon Fraps.com...and was wondering,is this where you guys get the frames per second info...I downloaded it(Free)and was amazed at the information it provides!I played some of my designs, and compared them to others..my frame rates averaged around 45 to 50 fps...while some others were 15 to 25...this is an excellent tool for course designers....it shows the rates in the upper left side of the screen...new designers take note....Fraps.com |

There are two different ways:
1. Fraps as you mentioned.
2. There is something to edit in the tw.ini file where if you hit the R key in the game framerates are displayed. Quick search should find it... |

I have been lucky to date, that my fps are not bad, but my problem with looking at fps's is, that when I observe low ones, what do you do to get them back up. If I knew this, then I would rely on them a lot more. Also when I come across a course where there low in spots, I may or may not experience lag. I have yet to hear from anyone who know's how to actually make them better. Peace |

be careful with FRAPS and using for screenshots the default image type is .bmp for the free version need to then save as .jpg in your image browser to avoid excessively large image file (;i dont bother opening .bmp files ... but thats just me :))
btw - you can open FRAPS and change which corner the FPS is shown along with changing F key for screenshots etc very versatile program |

I use that Howies quick screen capture program for my screenshots, and you can choose to save them in, I think, 5 or 6 different image formats. Its a very simple program to use. I may have to try out the Fraps program though...

Is this Howies program free you use ?
I use the Fraps program too right now, but either need to buy full version of Fraps (full Fraps program lets you take jpg instead of bmp) or find a another free program that captures in jpg instead of bmp. Plus the full version of FPS lets you take video, but I don't know how good this video is. Only lets me take like 30 seconds with free Fraps right now, so I haven't used it but twice maybe. F9 kicks in video mode while gaming if you want to try it out for yourself. There a benchmark function in there somewhere that will put the FPS numbers in a nice column like page for ya.
Every time I need show others screenshots while testing courses, or want to post screenshots in forums. I have to open a program called paint & save as jpg to desktop or folder from Fraps file because the bmp pictures are just to big like JB mentioned. This is a pain to have do all the time, but it did forced me to learn a few things I didn't know in paint, but now it's just a pain. The coolness wore off real quick..........LOL
