Took a litle time off designing this course to get a grip on a few things, but here are a few holes that are pretty much done. It's playing smooth rigth now, but might be demanding on lower end systems I believe. Hopefully it works for anyone who wants to try it out, and with all furture courses I make, I should have a better idea what the heck not to do.
Textures aren't set in stone or I haven't looked around to see if there is a Pano that migth fit way better Squirrely
Short Par 4 2nd shot look below, but long hitters could maybe carry the bunker all the way to roll down to the green for chip or putt. Should give many birdie chances unless the wind is kicked up a notch. This course sould get tough with wind with the tall grass & bushes in play everywhere

Same par 4 has above This shot is from behind green, and this pin placement shown will most likely be toughest on this hole......

Short PAR 3 Birdie chances should be there too, but like hole above wind will make it interesting with ball so high up in Air.

Well, been sorta quite the last few weeks with me tryign to learn so much, but I'm back to trying to make my 1st course now. Will work hard until this puppy is done, darn it. I want to start real courses after this one so bad, but TA has been a bear to get a grip on
Take Care Squirrely
Same PAR 3 from behind hole, and green slopes from right to left so all pins on right side will be sorta scary with roll off possible if hit to hard

Still my most favorite hole below PAR 4 that can be reached off tee, and when I think about all the holes I posted here today are some of the easlier holes on course so far(Got 11 competely done so far) Very clam greens they have, but expert play kinda change my view on greens.....LOL

I just was looking back at some pictures while going down memrory lane(;amazing what a hangover will make ya do), and this was 1st hole I ever did while following Homeboys tutorials(;Thank goodness for tutorials too) Was exactly 2 months & 7 days ago from today this picture was taken, and it sure seems like forever ago, to tell ya the truth.
Kinda got a little crazy when making this hole, and I laughed when I saw how deep this bunker was, look at me down below looking like a ant in the bunker....LOL
Have a good day everyone & Im off to design some more while working this major hangover away today Squirrely |

The course is looking good. A couple of different ideas there, especially the elevated green surrounded by bunker. As Bobby said, if you would like someone to test it I can have a look. I have TW08 on both a higher end machine and also on my older low end machine, so I can try on both and give feedback to how it runs.

Hey Squirrely,
What is texture is that long grass that you have around the course? I'm starting a links style course and it may come in handy.
Thanks in advance

St. Andrews 08 dp rough is the texture used there I believe(;Only 5 libs used so far on course) , and a links is a tough course to pull off, but I myself want to make links one day too.
Funny you say this, this is my 3rd attempt to make this idea into a course, and it all started out with a links course planned, but has changed into what it is today. Failed with many mistake the 1st two times, and had to start completely over after much love went into them. I sure hope this one makes it or I just might lose it..... LOL Brought much of this on hard work/pain on myself with getting all crazy with the killer two shape method taught to us in tutorials, but now theres no going back because I really want to make this idea come about. Its been a great learning experience to say the least, and so many save points, it isnt even funny (;might need new hard drive soon...:P) while trying to get things right. This one course might have to skip the killer eye candy like benches, cool buildings, and other neat things like this. Making course playability is what Im trying to really learn at this point in my custom making career. This is probably he main reason I have improve some in my TW play because I hit sooooo many shots while testing things on this course & others to see what the ball does.
Hope this helps ya out with things, and any pain saved is very good in my eyes Squirrely |

Here a couple pictures of1st hole on this course, and then I'll lay low because I don't want to show all holes yet. Think I've shown this hole before, and just want to explain what I kinda think off with every hole I make.
* 1 shot ---- Off the tee you can lay up some or go for the more dangerous shot where the fairway get not as wide with nasty rough on each side. Layup off tee & bunkers come more into play here. No matter what ya do the 2nd shot will be a blind shot to green, not has bad if further away from hill in fairway. I'm trying to think of many ways to give golfer ways to maybe attack a hole, and plus I don't like Power swing in TW so I'm trying to make PS shots very tough, but I don't know what some are capable of, so kinda working blind here sometimes.
* 2d shot ---- You can play low runner, high loft(depends on distance off tee), or fade it in catching the hill just right to make it feed (love feeds in this game) to pin location shown. Hill on bottom tier of green makes it a little tricky to catch feed just right sometimes. Catch wrong side on bump on bottom tier when trying to feed it down dropped down hill from tiers. You''ll find yourself on front side of green near huge bunker closer direction of tee. Witch leaves yourself a up & over putt left, and sometimes pot bunker on left can get ya if off with shot too......
When making a hole I try to imagine every shot or things that can come up, and it's pretty fun doing this. Man, I'm having a blast doing this stuff, and hopefully I can succeed in bringing this fun to others too.

Landing area off tee, and it got some risk going for distance to leave yourself with short Iron shot you can loft, but the dp stuff comes into play here on left, but if in Bunkers too while laying up or hitting right bunker while gripping & ripping it. Par will be tough to get here too. Well, for my skill set it will be............LOL

This picture shows blind 2nd shot look. I hit a OK drive here, and as you get closer to hill the less you will see of green. I'm real curious to know if anyone in game can carry the hill here in this fariway without PS, if so I bet it's pretty to watch because I haven't been able to do it even when hitting Green tempo & pure with sweet fade. With wind I'm sure it can be done, but I set everything to clam or still winds, but think of how wind could effect things too.......

Thanks for all the cool comments by the way, and I'm trying to get this stinker done. Wanted know if it's going to stink or swim darn it. The FPS are demanding, but it's playign smooth with no lagging while hitting, but very uncharted grounds I'm in, so who knows what the heck will happen. I will be doing my next course much different, that's for sure.
Gotta show this cool planter circle thingy I made this weekend. Amazing how all the sudden something just goes off like a light bulb, and I do something I've never done before. I love working in CA just as much as playing TW even though it can be very aggravating at times.
Planter thingy in Bunker that brings tree into play if you go to far left with drive. Well, mostly if pin placement in on green peninsula that is, but here's a little hint. I am designing many outs for bad sitations, and green hills can be your friend sometimes.... :)
It's not very big, but I'm proud of this little tree planter, and not even sure if it will make the final product

I like the looks of the planter you have done. It blends in well with the bunker surrounding it. I don't know if I'd want to end up in that bunker, as I am useless at gettign out of those things sometimes.
The terrain work is looking great too. |

Yeah, the sand can be a bear at times, and I'm just now getting kinda OK coming out of it. Sand shots from a good distance give me the most trouble now. Can't wait to start another course so I can try to build a cool tee box that's sorta like the planter box or build something like this, but not sure how bad this would effect tee box shot lag. Stinks EA hasn't made a new CA.
I'm going to scream my head completely off with this point count stuff before all is said & done, I'll tell ya that much, darn point counts..... Grrrrrrrrrrrr Brought much of this on myself, and I'll know better next time, but still stinks no new CA because it seems this would have made things better with point count stuff.
Rant over with point count Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr So &-##$ **##, this %@^( (** (0___^^ , ##-## of a ^#$@--$@&, you ^##$@^-@ , and #)*--$$( #@*(#() #%$@(#- (# @#)) #( !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK Now it's all gone, I feel better Squirrely

Yeah, I know what you mean about the point count. I was looking everywhere on my course tp bring the point count down. After the 18 holes were finalised, I had approx 210,000 points. In the ned it was down to 147,000. IT's painful having to go back over each and every part to find where you can bring the point count down.
I'm now about to get back onto my links style course, which will be another pain because of the terrain etc. Now after going through this one, at least I can use some info found here, like using buffer shapes to reduce the count etc.
I'll post some screenshots of this later. I have a couple of holes pretty much done. |
