I am in the process of making a course, I have all texs cloaked except the 5 I am using. I am working on elevations now, and the CA will change the base texture to some bright green. It is like the bottom falls out of the layout, atleast that is what the elevation shows. Is this common, how can it be corrected or prevented. When I got the layout ready, I went thru and did all of the roughs, fringes, bunker lips, etc... before I did the elevation changes. The layout was made with TA, and I want a nice finished product. How can I keep this from happening. All the bunkers elevation on the front nine went fine, but as I am going to do more elevation changes now, it gives me this bright green color, has anyone experienced this? Thanks in advance. Peace, Don |

Your base plot has more than 65,000 points. You need to either optimize more or drop some different textures to split up the point count on the base plot. |

ok, i think im following you, and i believe you are right. i am only using a few texs, but it says i am using more than i think i am. how do i drop them? how do i tell what is being used in certain places? i know what my tee, green, fwy, rough, 1st cut, deep rgh, bunkers, and bunker lips are and water also. I have identified all of those and I think I am only usind 2 texs, brookstone and firestone, and firestone is only pond. This is really irking me, i dont remember it being this difficult, how can i get the points down? how can i remove the unused texs? how can i throw my laptop in the trash, wait, wrong question. I am probably making this harder than it is, but i ahve done this before, im deleting swapfiles, and keeping it to a minimum texz, im just ready to bang my head on the wall and give up. I appreciate your help homeboy, now how do i correct it? Thank you in advance, peace, Don |

As Boze says, use CLTool to create a project and delete the unused "sticky" libs. But that isn't your problem for the bright green terrain. It is because you have exceed the max point count for that texture. See tip 20 of my Course Design Tips. Also use the point count indicator to find the shapes where you have lots of points. You need to create buffer shapes around groups of holes using different textures to split up the point count on your base plot. Then you will be fine.
As I said in my tutorial, once you understand the concept of max point count on a single texture, you will no longer fret about point count. |

Boy, I understand the pain your having with designing, but hang in there. I went back to look over the turtorials again after getting so frustrated this last week by getting off course from what the tutorials teach. This helped me find my way much better after I got all freaked out after things went south on my full course attempts.
Plus there is point count warning system somewhere in the tool tab in CA. Not exactly sure where it is, but Im sure someone here does. Say you set the point count warning system to warn you about a shape over 15,000 points. The warning system turns that shape to a red outline thus telling you it has more points than you set it at.
Good luck, and I wish I had the know how to help you out better, but maybe one day I can get to that point with designing.......
