Im going to try to play a little TW today, and since Im new to TW, there are so many courses I havent played yet. I usually only have time to play what courses that are in the two tours I play, but I want to try some other courses too. Just wondering what courses you would recommend out of all the designs you have made. That one course that you are most proud of, if you know what I mean. If I wasnt playing catch-up this wouldnt even be a problem for me, Id be up to speed when a course was released.
Now that I started doing this CA design stuff 2 weeks or so ago. My playing time has dropped for the time being because Im spending as much time as I can on designing at first so I remember the steps in which to design better. To long of a break, and Ill forget stuff worse than I do now........ LOL
When thinking about this subject today, I thought it would be a cool idea if there was a write-up on the designers homepage what course the designer would recommend for someone to try 1st. If I ever design multiple courses, I might not want my 1st ever design to be played by someone looking into what my designs are about. I used to look at ratings to see what a course was about, but not anymore since learning how ratings can be manipulated.
Thanks Squirrely

I could easily make a list of other designers' courses that are my favorites and have a permanent spot on my HD ... but the question is a little tougher.
Of mine, I would say two come to mind -- Kingswood Park, which was the course where I "saw the light" as a designer back in 06, and Sakurajima, which is the only fictional course I did this year. I like the risk/reward shots and the scenery. Maybe someday I'll redo Sakurajima to get all the water to reflect.
I wouldn't say that they're my "best", but they are probably my sentimental favorites. |

My two favorites and probably my best are Bandon Dunes and Bay Hill 2009 (PGAX) the third would be my sentimental favorite and the one I know is the most accurate as it is my real home course. Edinburgh USA |

Man, I got so many courses yet to play, but I'm going to try to play as many as I can before the excitement of TW 2010 comes. I'm worried all these killer courses are going to go into storage mode when the new TW 2010 PC game comes out, and I sure hope it's like now where the designers can update them if they want too. To much love goes into them to let them die..... :(
Last night my plan of playing some courses went up in smoke because some real life issues, but I'm playing today, darn it. I've played Royal Birkdale, Bay Hill, Kingswood Park, and Sakurajima was one of the first course I tried here because I like Japanese architecture.
How do you save the games on your HD & not in the TW game/Caddie itself ? I would like to do this so I wouldn't have download them again, and take up this bandwidth I've read about. Do I just grab the program file in under program files/Tiger Woods 08/Courses, and then make a new folder. Then drag it like I do with my save points when designing. Is this correct, and will the courses stay on my HD even if I uninstall with TW caddie? I just checked, and all the courses got the green box from compiling too, so I'm guessing this is what I must do to save them. Make a new folder, and then I would go to the green box when I want to play them again down the road or need them for a tour. This might be basic stuff, but please understand I didn't mess with files at all until I picked up designing a couple weeks ago.

You can use TWCaddie to 'compress' the course back in to a zip format, and then uninstall the course from the game (and registry). This way, the course is no longer available to the game, and wont appear in the selection list, but the install zip is still on your drive. |

Boy, I wish I read this thread before trying to save all my courses to my HD. Lost all my downloads when I tried to save them, but I think understand how to do it now........:(;
Wanted to play a links before crashing because I like to play my favorite style of course before crashing. Link courses are so cool, and then I remember this thread. Finally got around to playing Royal Birkdale The Open again since taking up designing, but there was no comment section for the course. Figure I let you know why I see you picked it has your favorite design Ronbrug . The elevation work is unbelievable on that course, and I was amazing with every bump along the way while playing it. Really added to the real like feeling of playing a links course that way you did it, and it must have taken a long time to do all that elevation work. All those little bumps, hills, and the way you sunk those pot bunker holes was very good, and caused some nice bounces that link courses are famous for. Played smooth too, and to do that with that evaltion work was no easy task from the little I know about designing. Could go on with all that is right with the course, but Im very tried from all the late nights lately.
Thanks for your time making this course Ronburg Squirrely
I will try Bandon Dunes or Edinburgh USA next, and its so sweet to have all these course yet to play. Like a kid in a candy store I am..........:) |
