Ive been trying not to come here bothering the designers with a million question, but Im having a little trouble understanding how to get CA 06 courses to play in TW 08.
Do I just need to make the splash screen & logo, and then I can test my holes for mistakes in TW 08 ?
Not sure what program I need off nvidia site to download for the DDS Plugin tool needed to do dds files. Any direction/links where I can go to learn these things would be great. I downloaded the splash tutorial by JSJarvis, and Im going to read it again tomorrow, but are there any more tutorials for logo & splash screens to read or watch out there. I have never used paint, photoshop, moved files, or anything like that on a computer, so this might be basic computer 101 to most, but Im a total noob.
Thank you everyone for making these tutorials, because if not for them I wouldnt stand a chance.........

Actually all you really need is a compiled course and what ever libraries you may have added if not already installed into 06. If you are using the caddie to install the courses, it will add a default text file and a nologo logo. That is all I ever do when testing. Check the tutorials section of the forum (Not the tutorials downloads) Nutwoody put together a software list which includes links for downloading dds plugins, free graphic software etc. |

OK Yeah, those nuttywoody list are worth their weight in gold while trying to learn what the heck is going on, and I didnt even think about going there to find this. Im getting lost somewhat with all these tutorials I have watch or read the last few days, and forget where info might be, but Im going to figure this out today with a nice fresh start today. I was mentally beat up & worn down last night when typing the above post, but now Im all good after sleeping on it, and ready to jump back into the fire........
After reading the Homeboy hole design yesterday. I made my first hole without many creases on my elevations work, and it was cool to finally do that, but I have a long way to go with learning all this stuff. It will just take a long time to get the necessary experience to do course designing that is good enough for a release. Im having a blast learning this stuff.............
Thanks for the help Squirrely

The slash screen template I downloaded is opening up with Image Broadway because I don't think I have Adobe Photoshop on our computer. We will get Adobe Photoshop down the road if it's really needed.
Will Image Broadway work to make these splash templates & logos or is the paint.net a better program to use ?
When I think about all this stuff available for us new wanna-be designers. I really think it's unbelievable what programs/tutorials the TW community has made to keep the custom courses & tournaments alive all this time. If that doesn't show EA the love others have for this game. I don't know what would, and I sure hope EA sports makes a new CA for TW 2010 for all those fans who have been keeping TW custom courses alive all these years. It's only right for them to do all that, and I don't even care if I have to learn all this over again if EA releases a new CA.
Plus, I hope EA puts driving a golf cart option in the game because that would be fun to play a round of gold having to drive up or even walk with a golf bag to your ball. EA would just have to make it where you can turn it off or on for those needed to play a round in a hurry. Just think of all race courses & ramps people could make in CA too......... LOL

Get Paint.Net It is just as good as Photoshop for doing basic things like making graphics for the game and it has a dds plugin available and it is about $700.00 less(it is a free program. You can find it on google. |
