I really don't know for sure about all of this but i know it is possible to decompile a .exe file to an assembly source code. While i was thinking, would it be possible to then delete the code in CA06 that makes you have to have TW06 installed to install CA06. You could then just recompile the program and host it for download on this website. I sorta doubt that there would be any legal issues due to the fact the it is a free program and that EA has seemingly moved away from TW for the PC for "awhile". does anybody know if this could work and if so can somebody try to pull it off. |

you should perhaps read the EULA (end user license agreement) :)
... Without limiting the preceding sentence, you may not modify, reverse engineer, disassemble, license, transfer, distribute, create works from, or sell the Tool, ...
pretty sure that means EA says no. |

but still what are the chances of them really caring at this point, this is something that they have not even attempted to make modifications of on their own
This still is legal so can anybody ask EA for the source code or ask them if it would be alright to do this |

Headgate owns the source code and they have been asked, they did think about making it open source but nothing came of it. They are now EA Salt Lake if you want to ask them about it. |

I am a professional programmer and for one decompiling is no easy task if it were legal(which it is not). Then to follow, the decompiled code is generally not anywhere good enough to really work with. Even if had the actual original source code it is still a rather major chore. I klnow for me the amount of time spent working on it would not be worth while. The CA we have now has some problems, but the game engine also has shortcommings. I personally do not see alot of value in rewriting it |

I would not rewrite the program but just take out the part that makes you install TW06 to run and install CA 06.
I just got a response from EA and they showed me the weblike to the develpers blog which is run by EA. http://www.easportsworld.com/en_US/group/59 |

Well I would really say that is extremely counter productive, especially considering TW06 is less than 10.00. If you were to hire me to change just that part of the CA Code would cost hundreds of dollars worth of time. |
