Not sure if this is right place in the forums for this post, and if not. I'm sorry
I'm new to TW, and was wondering if this was normal. The grass won't show up at further distances, and it only shows up so close to me. Is this normal? I play with the settings maxed out, and grass sections only show up close to me, and when I press the F key to go up in the air to navigate down the hole. The long grass doesn't show up at a further distance until I move closer to it. I'm very new to this PC stuff & PC gaming, so there is a lot to learn on my part. I've read here where the buildings(black) only show up on lower shader setting. The water is not showing up like it's suppose I think with the higher shader setting too. I tried messing around with some settings, but it doesn't fixed the grass issue for me, and if this is normal. I can deal with it because these course are awesome, but if there is a fix. That would be great too..............
My PC set-up if needed to help solve this: Desktop: Core2Duo 6300 @ 1.86Ghz 2GB Ram 8800GT 512mb 20" monitor @1650x1050 Windows XP
Notebook: Core2Duo T5550 @1.83Ghz 2GB Ram 8700GT 512mb 17" monitor @1400x900 --------- won't let me play TW at that ress, and only shows 1200x700 something in game :( Windows Vista Premium
Thanks

The blades of grass are supposed to fade away after a certain distance. That's the way the game engine is set up, otherwise, the computer would have to render millions and millions of grass blades...
It can be changed by designers on custom courses using custom textures which can stretch the distance before the blades disappear This can sometimes cause lag, so it doesn't get done a lot.
Long story short, your game and computer are working just fine :) |

Tiger Woods is a pretty demanding game, but so worth the visuals it gives. These custom courses are just plain beautiful works of art. Would love to have the skills it takes to design these courses for TW, and I would guess these golf courses take alot of time to develop. Im really amazed with these great creations, and Im hooked on TW now without question.......... :P
Just played a course called Hedgehog Cove tonight, and my jaw was dropping every hole. Someone out there in the real world needs to make this into a real course. I just started playing Tiger Woods 08 for the first time ever about 3 months ago, and just stumbled on this site by accident doing a google search on TW a couple weeks ago or so. Im sooooo happy I found this site, and looking forward to playing all these courses here & playing on the tour once I figure out why my TW game doesnt show registered online on EA server in-game...................
Thanks for answering my question

if its EASO, when you first logon there, it will ask you to register etc
1st post: shader level to low or medium for water similar for structures to get rid of darkness adjust one setting at a time to see what they do |

Also good idea to do the confidence folder fix:
When you start playing TW08 game, it is important to know there is a bug in the game: When you played some courses you will see the loading times between holes are increasing, the game will become slower and slower. Do next steps to solve the problem:
On desktop you will see folder: My documents........ inside look for: Tiger woods PGA tour 2008....and inside go to folder: Career. Inside Career go to folder: Players.......and inside look for your playersname folder. Now you will see folder: Confidence.....and inside you will find files: Hole Type.tcn......and.....Shot type.tcn Now right click both files ( hole.tcn +Shot type.tcn) and delete both files. When you did this: restart TW08 game and play 1 hole on any stock course and close TW08 game. Go back to same confidence folder and you will see both files are regenerated: but now they are very small size ( 85kb or something like that) Now right click both files ( Type.tcn......and.....Shot type.tcn) and choose : Properties....and check box: READ ONLY. Do this for both files. |

When I try to register my TW game under EASO in-game, and put my game code in. It says invalid code or something like that, and won't let me register or continue, but this is the code that came with my TW game(Used it to install TW). On EA's web site, under my Account, it shows my TW game registered there, but won't let me registered my game for some reason under EASO. Don't know why it's doing this, but it''s aggravating me somewhat because I can't play tournaments until I get this done...... :O I got a E-mail from EA when I first registered TW, but the game hint code didn't show up in my E-mail. Is this the code I'm suppose to use in EASO when trying to registered my game on-line? If a took my Madden 2004 game that came with my computer package, and register it on EASO. Would this maybe help with things? Maybe once I register one game it will do right with my TW game under EASO.
Thanks for all the info everyone, and I'm not the best with computers(using only for about 2-3 years now), but I'm capable of learning anything if the info is available......

you need to sort the reg code out with EA Support - could be that someone registered it already. As long as you have the download link and they have proof of payment, should be EAsy to straighten out :) http://support.ea.com
the game hints/cheats etc are for the console versions, there's nothing like that for PC version |
