Still on the trail of the non-reflective water syndrome.
Watch your water features every time. Today as I was working on the 16th hole, I added a water feature to it, compiled, then started up the game, and all my other water on the rest of the course, went non-reflective.
So, I know that adding that new water made my other water non-reflective. So I changed that water to sand, and all my water was fixed.
Don't know exactly what this tells us, but it's one more clue, maybe.
But, all is not lost, after re-designing the water on the 16th, plus experimenting with lowering and or raising the slope, I not only have 1 water feature on that hole but now have 2.
Just thought I would post this, in case it may help out. |

Just to confuffle your minds completely...
On the course I'm currently working on, there is a pond in front of the green on number 2 (which reflects) and on the approach to that green you can also see a pond in the distance on number 7 which does not reflect...
...but when you get to number 7, that holes pond reflects just fine thank you very much. |

Yep, that sure does befaffles me. Someday we may figure this out.
Until then, I guess we just gotta watch our water, I feel like I can fix it 100% of the time, though.
Its just annoying.
Uhh, let me rephrase that and say, most of the time. lol |

I'm no expert, but it seems to be the nature of the rendering engine in TW to compromised= on the level of detail, particularly in the distance. Perhaps part of the formula causes the rendering to pass on reflections in order to maximise other shading and texture details. I wonder if the inconsistencies in water reflection might vary if other detail levels were dialed back. Might be worth a try. I think that generally in 3D rendering, reflections are some of the mos complex operations required. I've followed the development of 3D animation over the years a bit. It seems I recall that some of the major breakthroughs at one point were considered to be in reflections. |
