I have been trying to do some course creation and everytime I get to a good point in the course something messes up and I can not figure out what caused it. And I never get to complete them, I just have to delete and start over, never have been able to complete a course.... This last one was coming along great , Had 18 holes and was doing some touches on the course, getting ready for some testing and on one of the holes I got one of those tall towers that come up from the ground and go up . then when I try to flatten that spot or soften that spot to get rid of it it turns into a Black hole.....And this time when I went into the course to test All elevation was gone..... no matter what I did everything went flat. anyboody have to deal with this? This has happened to me before and has got me stumped.

Rambo, I have had those tall towers as you call them, happen to me on occasion. When they happend to me, I was smoothing something, so I just cancelled the smoothing operation. You really have to watch things when your smoothing, in case something like that happens.
Not sure about the rest of your problems, but one thing you MUST LEARN is to save copies of your tca, I have about 100 backups made of my new course and I'm only on the 13th hole, believe you me, it's a lifesaver.
I hope I helped you a little bit.

Optimizing detail should fix the problems you are having. |

You should optimize at every stage. Elevated some terrain? Optimize! Smoothed an area? Optimize! Flattened an area? Optimize! Also run the course repair tool often. These spikes can go up or down. If it goes up, just draw a shape around it, flatten to minimum and smooth until it looks regular. If it goes down, flatten at maximum and smooth. |

Thanks for the quick reply. I appreciate all the help. I will now back up every time I finish a hole.... as for the optimizing have tried that to no avail.... I also have tried to smooth and it just makes the problem worse, it gets bigger and bigger..... I hat to lose this course it was coming along so nicely.
Thanks Everyone A Lesson Learned... |

If you'd like to send the .tca file to Bobbybolin@msn.com I could see if I could fix it for you... |
