The course rating system seems to be somewhat erratic, to say the least. So I figured, why not ask our designers which of their own courses they like best? I know I have some favorites among my designs. So to start it of here's a top 10 of my courses as I consider them: 1. Raiders of the Lost Course 2. Helm's Deep 3. La Ferme 4. Gaspesie 5. Charlie Brown's Lament 6. Paris SDG Golf Club Le Plat Pays 7. Charlevoix SDG Golf Club 8. Twin Peaks 9. Xmas @ Oz 10. The Atlantean Experience I was also mainly responsible for a couple of PGAX courses. I think of those I like Quail Hollow best of all. I judge courses not just for playability, but also for landscaping and use of structures and vegetation. I rate Raiders of the Lost Course highest because it came out looking even better than I'd envisioned it. Usually due to the limitations of the CA it's the other way around. It plays nice too and in strong winds it's a real bitch of a course, certainly on expert level. Number 10 is on there because it's just so different from what's out there, in a funny sort of way. So how about the rest of you? |

Interesting question...The other day I starting thinking, what was the best shot I ever hit in golf. For some reason each season, I usually hole a shot from some crazy distance, but never had a hole in one. Than I thought what was my best round, or best tournament. To each of these, I could not answer, maybe I have been lucky or never did anything really good...I never looked at lowest round as the best round of golf, cause their are so many other factors.
The only thing I can comment on is that Royal Troon 04 or 05, is the worst course I ever did. It still bothers me to this day.... |

LOL Chris. Take a look at 2002 course Black Hills by Bobby Bolin. That's some good stuff right there. |

If i had to select as many courses as Jimi as my favourites, that would be the sum total of all the courses i have released and some, lmao |

My best - favorite would be a course that was not released to the public. It was made for a charity event for last Christmas, Bandon Dunes. It will probably be made available at some point later this year when the donations close. My best work IMO that is released would probably be Edinburgh USA which is my real home course that I am a member of.
My standards are for realism, accuracy of reproduction and capturing the feel of the real thing. Do not do fictional so those are my criteria |

My favourates would be a biased collection lol.....however of the courses where I have been either lead designer or in partnership with one other person, then I would have to rate Royale Montreal for both 07 and 08 games as being my favourate, designed in partnership with McBruce. This is mainly due to playability in expert and very dry modes.
Following this would definately be, TPC Deere Run and TPC Louisiana.
TPC Deere Run was a real pleasure to recreate as I received a lot of help from the real designer's office (D.A.Weibring) in the form of original course blueprints, together with very useful info supplied by D.A.'s caddy. This helped me recreate a course that is as close as I could get to the real thing. It is also a pleasure to play and is not an edgers course....a personal aim is to recreate courses where you actually have to move the ball, not your edge! |
