What all contributes to the download size that is listed underneath the course names?
Why are some only 5.57 mbs and some are 8.75 mbs ?

First and foremost, it's a function of the size of your tca file. You can check this by looking at Course Info -- the biggest contributor to the size of your tca is the point count. When you compile the course, the resulting tcr file will become slightly smaller than the size of the tca file.
The next question is whether you upload the tcr file or whether you compress the file and upload the tcx file.
I bet that you're not compressing the file and including the splash/text in the compressed file.
Let me use Valhalla as an example:
Course info is 15.6 MB. tcr file is 13.9MB. After zipping it, it is 6.9 MB. If I add the splash, flag, logo, text, .ini and cls to the zip, it will be about 8 MB.
If I compress the tcr file (which includes the splash and text) and then add the flag, logo, .ini and cls to the zip, it will be 6.98 MB.
Remember that if you compress the file with the course picture (splash) and course text set in your Course Properties, you do not need to add the splash and text again to your zip. |

Ahh, that is what I did then, I added the splash, text, flag and logo in the zip.
I did compress and added the extras in also.
But my size before compression was 11.7 mb's..
And when I downloaded it was 8.something, maybe it would have been smaller if I would'nt have added the extras in the zip.
