update with reinstall results. |

Newbie who has read the FAQs but has bad retention, so please excuse if I mis state something. Love this game, a bit put off by the crashing problems when you start to expand your course library, but am sure Ill get around it. Am hoping that new courses can be somehow referenced by the program and integrated into the tournament schedule - I think the only way I can play tournaments on the newer courses downloaded is to build my own single ones or play on line.
I suppose its hard to police the course architects to make sure that they properly use the libraries etc. necessary for clean installs (can you tell that my initial experience has been somewhat negative there)? Again, every program is different but have 75 Links courses downloaded for play and it never causes a problem with the game. This is the only negative I can see with TW though, other than EAs announcement that they will not continue to invest in a platform that clearly so many people around the world are using and have built a huge infrastructure for. Everything is the bottom line. Shame.
Ive just deinstalled TW07, which is the version I have (my PC needs to be replaced - 08 would be a little too much for it). Am reinstalling now, with just my career intact and the few downloaded courses still in zip files. I think it was something in Augusta 2007 that caused mine to crash. The crash was before you get to set graphics values etc that could improve performance, so Ill start with the base set of courses - which I am tired of playing, and add one at a time and thoroughly test - backing everything up before any changes so I can just re set it if something fails due to an incompatability etc.
Suppose if I play on line Id have to have the courses, so it must not be that difficult. Im not an expert but Im no novice in working with problems - I certainly know my way around this machine.
Just did a complete delete and reinstll of TW07 - saved my career etc. but did not add them back into the game yet. Just the game from the CD - no new mods whatsoever, and it crashes just after the splash screen. Ill try the registry/system/graphic board suggestions and see if they work. Thought this would fix me up - software worked fine when first installed, so something about my system must have changed recently. There are plenty of posts to check for items to look at. Will update later. |
