I was just wondering, out of interest, how or what process the EA designers use to design the stock courses.

Do they use CA and/or other proprietary design tools. I ask this with particular reference to the texture blending eg. bunker lips and fringe & fairway edges etc etc.

Us custom designers are left with hard edges between the different textures.

They use Maya to design the courses....the bunker blending is created by using a texture with an alpha channel and textured mapped in Maya.

Thanx Kevin, i suspected as much. EA must also have developed specific import and export utilities to get courses/objects into and out of Maya and into the tcr/tcl formats.
Love to get my hands on that.

I have used Maya and 3DMax in the past, as i do a lot of 3D work in my profession in the Architectural field although nowdays i use another 3D package specifically for architecture.
