May be a distant memory for some but I used to enjoy playing The Predator on (I think) TW2004...
Is there any feasible way to get this course in 2008? I loved the in the woods feel and the old castle-style rock buildings!
Any ideas anyone?
Regards,
Keith. |

if you have the version of the game that this course came on, you should be able to install it in 2008. I can not say how good it will work, but it should be playable. it wont be anywhere near the visual quality of an 08 course, but you should be able to play it. |

No such luck Im afraid.
I took the PRD folder from the 2004 CD - I tried installing the prd.tcl and prd.tcr files using Caddie08 which seemed to work without problem...
I then copied over by hand the PRD.tga, txt, flag.dds and other files to the Predator folder which appears in the folder ...EA SPORTS\Tiger Woods 08\Courses. This includes two directories called cls and Sounds. Caddie08 was pointed to the requisite files for flag, course text etc.
However TW08 just crashes out completely when trying to play it.
Have I missed a step - or is there a way to convert this into something compatible?
Regards,
Keith. |

Each year game engine changes are made which can cause problems with earlier courses. It has been my experience that TW08 will only take courses from 06-08. Almost any earlier courses will cause crashes to the desktop. Unfortunately, if you want to play that course you will need to play it in the native TW2004 game. |

Has there ever been the idea to try and remaster TW04's fantasy courses to make it compatible with TW08? |

I played it, but it honestly was not what I expected it to be. The classic holes are recognizable but all of it looks very much mellowed down, the jungle scenery is lacking... It didn't really do it for me. |

I have not played that version yet but I will say that replicating it with the CA probably is nearly impossible. It's too bad we can't get the older versions to play. |

Replicating older courses and actually making them better is not as hard as you think. Granted this is the one TCA file I lost but a few years ago decided to replicate 04 Birkdale even down to the textures, the bunker style the cart paths to rebuilding the pano to even the ini file controlling the course sounds. The cart path were even lined just like on the stock with two textures. That was a bit tricky and new to me.
Predator in all fairness would be a heck of a lot harder to make than Royal Birkdale.

I own a copy of TW2004. I used Course Utilities for 2004 to compress the Predator course and required files into a "tcx" file. I was able to install the tcx file into TW2007. The Predator 2004 course looks and plays normally in TW2007. I could install the 2004 Predator tcx file into TW2008 using TW Caddie 2008. However, my installation of TW08 crashes every time I try to play the Predator course. Maybe there are some graphics / video settings that can be used for a successful result? Thank You |

How does the Predator water look in 07? Can you take a screen picture and upload? |

Thanks for asking. The visual qualities of the imported course file (from TW04) are very poor when displayed in TW07. The lake on the left side of Hole 14 does not look like water (no reflections). The playability of the Predator course seems OK to me. Likely this is not an acceptable solution. |
