Hello all, I have been having a huge problem with CA06. I have built my first course and have everything set up to compile (all of the holes are defined, etc.).

When I go to compile course, I have the standard options. If I leave tree lighting unchecked, the course compiles fine. No errors, only 3 warnings about the practice facilities not being on the course. When I go into Tiger 2006 to play the course, it goes to the loading screen and just crashes to the desktop (giving the this program has caused an error and has to be shutdown message). If I check tree lighting, CA crashes when it gets about 3/4s of the way through compiling.

Heres the funny thing...if I take out all of the trees by deleting (or just uncheck include trees and structures in the compile menu), it compiles fine and plays fine in the game albeit with no trees.

If I add 1 tree and check tree lighting, CA crashes during compile. If I add 1 tree and uncheck tree lighting, CA compiles but Tiger 2006 crashes during loading. I have scoured these forums and cant find a reason why this is happening. I have tried a dozen different trees in my library to make sure it wasnt just that particular tree.

Anyone have any suggestions whatsoever? Thanks!

P.S. I have Windows Vista and have tried running CA as administrator and in compatibility mode. Still does the same thing.

Hi.....
Maybe you can find some help on link below:

Maybe also good idea to use: Cloaking tool 06
When you have more then 40 libraries in TW06 game, Course architect will become unstable or will not work anymore.
With Cloaking tool you can cloak ( disable)the libraries that you don t need for your new course. So after you did Course architect will run smoother.
When you open Cloaking tool, inside click help and you will find tutorial, it is easy to use.
On link below you will find Cloaking Tool:

Thanks for the quick reply!

I tried deleting those files and I currently am using 8 libraries total (it is a very simple course). Still, if I put 1 tree on the course and have tree lighting checked, CA crashes to the desktop while compiling.

Are there any updates to CA that would possibly address this? I dont believe there is, but Im at my wits end.

Edit: Let me try the cloaking tool, that is one thing I havent tried. Ill let you know if that helps!

Still a no go. I cloaked all libraries that I wasnt using for this particular course, then deleted the CA temp files as noted in the archived post, but still the same.

Just putting one tree on the course and selecting tree lighting still causes CA to crash to desktop during compiling. delete the tree and it compiles fine, with or without tree lighting selected.

Could it be a problem with Windows Vista?

Edit: I just uninstalled/reinstalled CA to make sure it wasnt a problem there. I cant believe I spent the last week working on a course that I cant put a tree on, lol!

Thanks Gunpower!

I tried on another machine a few minutes ago but it was Vista as well, got the same problem.

I will try on my XP machine later this evening and I will post back whether it works or not.

Thanks to both of you. I will let you know....
