One thing I have run across in quite a few courses that you guys need to be a little more careful of. It is VERY frustrating to try and hit from behind an invisable tree.... but not NEARLY as frustrating as trying to hit out of invisable bushes. You think you have a clear shot only to hear the clonk of a tree trunk or the rustle of leaves from bushes that arent there. Either you ball bounces off at a crazy angle or goes nowhere. This often occures on the edge of trees or undergrowth, but sometimes up to a couple yards away.
Not being a designer myself, I dont know the mechanics that cause invisable trees and such, but I assume it is something that would be avoidable if a little more care is taken in the design process. It seems to just be sloppy design. |

i havent seen an invisible tree or bush in a few years
any specific courses/locations you can mention ? dont you see any indication of trees/bushes when watching the ball flight/landing ?
try setting your graphics options higher if you can
if near other trees/bushes - try using the s key to back up a little, see if theres more vegetation around you than you think
sometimes very close objects dont appear to fully render when youre in close but fade away or disappear depending on your PC power/video card |

When nestled against a tree or in the middle of bushes, the game certainly doesnt render the offending item in full. Instead, it provides an opaque view so that the player can at least see something.
Try click/hold the right mouse button and move around your player in order to see any overhanging limbs or to see if you have a clear shot. As JB suggests, you can also use the keys to move around, such as 4 which would take you behind the pin, then press W in order to travel in a straight line back to the front of your golfer. |

The invisible trees arent the result of the design process. As ZB points out, the game doesnt render them completely when youre in the middle of trees/bushes. I typically will hit the S key to pan out and then the trees/bushes will fully render. Then I can decide whether I have a shot straight to the green or need to punch out in one direction or maybe even try to putt under a bush.
Happy weed-whacking! |
