bunker display problems

a few of the bunkers i have in my new course for TW2006 show the sky reflecting off them like a mirror. In the architect they seem normal but after compiling during play the graphics show hall-of-mirror effect and look like the sky overhead. I have tried changing textures,smoothing,optomizing, different panos and nothing works..am at my wits end..please help

I have encountered the same problem in TW06 design. If I remember correctly it had to do with the points count in the course. Obviously you havent optimized enough. Optimizing is an art in itself with the CA. Many of these problems will for some reason disappear if you upgrade to 07 or 08.

Thanks for the replies folks. I did see the excellent tutorials at the link posted and I did better optomization around the bunkers in question. What really seemed to do it was to add a buffer zone around the bunker then optomize that shape and include the child bunker shape, no more wierd reflecting sand.

I bet that the transparent texture that you were seeing was located in the top-right portion of your CA plot. I recommend looking at Jimbos excellent tutorial on using buffer shapes at jimbo64.com. I also suggest using a shape around each bunker while you work on it (dropping the bunker, smoothing and optimizing) ... this will keep the points from being added to the base plot.
