Being a relative newbie to the 2006 version of the architect, I have run into a problem with a course I am making. It is a 2006 course, but uses libraries from 2003 and converted 2000 libraries. The problem is a glassy effect Im getting after loading the compiled course. Holes 1-4 are fine and are located in the lower part of the course...once you start 5-7...then the glassy effect shows up. I have optimized all the textures...removed some objects and moved alot of the forest I had in the upper part of the course. In the layout, most of the holes will be in the lower part of the course with only three crossing the glassy area. Please see pic and give me any input PLEASE!!! If you want to look at the architect file, I can upload it to my server for you to download. THANX!

I would imagine its the converted 2000 libraries that are causing the problems, just my thought on it from a non-designers view.

The pic is a bit too small to see whats really going on, but I would advise against using any stock libraries prior to 06. You can use the 07 libs if you are designing for 07. Trees and textures from other versions dont work too well.

After hours of tinkering...I believe I have found the answer. It has to do with the elevations on the course. Once I added more height to the objects in the distance, most of the glassy effect went away. I am using 2003 and 2006 textures and objects...WHY??? I have a section of the course that is a cedar swamp and have not been able to find any cedar trees in the 2007 libraries. The converted libraries work fine because it DOES NOT convert ANY of the objects...just textures and sounds.

The K Club, bottom row of plant objects, left most tree is a good rendition of an Eastern White Cedar

Take this for what it is worth, but I would recommend that you not use any of the 2000 converted libraries. The old 99/2k1 converted that EA had just did not do a good job when it was in the game which is why they removed it. There are enough good textures and objects that have been released for later versions of the game that using 2000 converted libraries just doesnt make sense.
