Hi,
Im recreating an existing golf course (my golf club). Im done with the holes setup, now I have to work on the terrain. I have the altitudes for every holes breaks. For the minor ondulations I have my memory -)
My problem is that I have no idea on how to apply vast elevation changes without ending up with very steep slopes everywhere.
Expressed in a sligthly different manner: Provided you have some sort of height map of a real course, what would your strategy be to reproduce the same terrain in CA ? |

Ive already watched the tutorials at smilioats. They explain how to make a hill, theres no mention about having to modelize an existing terrain. |

There is a program that allows you import terrain elevations into the CA. It is only available for the US of A though, so it wouldnt be any good for a course in France. Youll have to do it by hand, how hard that is depends a bit on the terrain that you are trying to copy. If you send me some pix of what is that you are trying to do, I might have some pointers. |

Without the help of terrain assist I use, as you suggest, a map showing the contour lines of the course being built. I then plan how to make the changes, which is mainly lifting the terrain or lowering as is required. This basic decision has to be made with reference to the outer edges of the plot and where the height is in relation to the rest. Having decided that, I darw shapes which match the contour lines and raise/lower the required height. Depending upon the spacing of the shapes drawn will reflect on the steepness of the resultant terrain.
Hope this helps.

The way we are playing here you might want to throw the clubs in the lake. If you throw the clubs in the lake, you might miss the lake.
No course in the works: retired. |
