My new course is set on the tropical island of Frederico Poo. Expect some nice new structures. |

Another CA glitch, Im not sure if the course can be salvaged. Fortunately i had another island plot lying around :) to play with. Like I said, some cool strcutures, like a stairway that can take you 32 up a steep cliff. |

There comes a time in every designers life when he or she gets so fed up with the headaches that the CA provides that it becomes time to throw in the towel. The time has come for me. I keep running into inexplicable problems on my latest project, the final one being an inability to apply any elevation whatsoever because of lack of memory. Or so the CA tells me. There should be plenty, so Ive decided to give up on this course and on the whole CA business, at least for the time being. I had a string of courses where I encountered few problems, but apparently my good fortune hasa come to an end, lol. Ill upload the structure libraries I made for this course for other designers to use. I wish them good luck, lol. |

jimi, it sounds like youve reached the stage where proper technique is essential to get the courses you want created. The key to moving forward is to adapt to the limitations of the CA. I suspect that you are not using buffer shapes which is a key to being able to apply more elevation features. Plus you must do a lot more smoothing and optimizing to bring home courses with elevation changes. Watch point counts on the entire course (200,000 max but 120,000 better) and also reduce points on your base texture (50,000 max but 30,000 better). Please dont give up, and study Jimbos site in much more detail. www.jimbo64.com |

I have run into these prblms before and I do use buffer shapes. I did get it to work eventually after some uninstalling and re-installing. Lost the contents of my external drive in the process and when trying to fix that somehow the CA lost interest :) and now refuses to open. I dont mind the limitations as much ans the inconsistency and unpredictability of the program. |
