The golf craze in Jimiland continues.
This time its the inhabitants of Les Ponts des Soupirs who have taken to the game. They are a small French speaking community, just a few miles North of Jimipolis, who settled in the area in the early 1900s to start an accordeon building industry. Originally this thrived somewhat, but it soon started to dwindle, due no doubt in large part to the somewhat remote location of their little village, which they originally named Le Pont des Soupirs, because when the wind blows from the West the arched medieval bridge that crosses the Gorge produces a peculiar, sighing sound.
This bridge was built by the Lords of Blabbermouth, whose estate lies just south of Les Ponts, in an attempt to connect their isolated lands to the outside world. This proved quite unsuccessful, because, frankly speaking, the outside world wasnt at all interested in what lies beyond Jimipolis, itself until recent times a quiet backwater. A recent attempt to open up the municipalities of Blabbermouth, Goonland and Carassio also stranded in Le Pont, again with a bridge, constructed along more modern lines, which is the end point of Autobaan 69. A moss covered path leads from there northward to Goonland. By an uncanny coincidence the new bridge proved just as skilled in producing sighing noises as its medieval counterpart, a mile or so to the West, which prompted the locals to rename their village Les Ponts des Soupirs, which simply means The Bridges of Sighs. This bridge sighs when the wind blows from the East, so a stay in the village is usually quite a melancholy experience, with bridges sighing whichever way the wind blows
The Pontiers decided to cash in on the golf craze after noticing the success of the other new golf resorts that have sprung up in the area over the last couple of months. It didnt escape their attention that for the first time in living memory more than the occasional lost traveler started to find his way to the isolated lands to the South. Whats more, nearly all of them returned, most of them still quite excited after their golfing adventures.
The local golfcourse lies to the West of the village, along Gorge. Its a full 18 hole, par 73 championship course, which is somewhat unusual, with both challenging and beautiful holes that will test even the proficient cyber golfer. It is being rumoured that the Pontiers are lobbying for their course to be added to the European Pro Tour.

Parts of the back nine have an almost linkslike feel.

Thank you, my Flemish friend. I hope it will prove as nice to play as it is to look at.
With htis course i have completed a set of five courses, all set within an area of less than 150 square miles in Jimiland, which can be found somewhere in a remote corner of my mind, lol. I have had a lot of time on my hands lately, which partly explains my proficiency as a designer over the last couple of months. Monday its back to work, so I will have a lot less time for this wonderful hobby.
Anyway, I plan a change of scenery for my next course, for which i intend to move to the coast. I havent done an ocean course for TW07 yet, and I guess its about time. So keep an eye on this forum for updates. Have fun all!!!

However, le Pont des Soupirs is actually in Venice, Italy -)

I know, lol. These are different ones. The Bridge of Sighs was also the title of an album by Robin Trower, a Hendrix-inspired 70s guitar player. A bit moody, but not bad, as far as I remember.
