Hello, i have two questions related to course architect ( CA ), maybe one of the experienced course designers will know the answers.
First question: -----------------
One of our designers wants to try to import shapes from one course to another in course architect ( CA ), without retracing. Is this possible to do ?
Second question: ----------------
In course architect ( CA ), when you go to: File....there is an option: import .ach Anyone knows what you can do with that option ( import .ach )
Thanks in advance. |

No idea about the 2nd part of the question. Quietly will know I''m sure, he knows all sorts of strange shit about the course architect.
As for importing shapes, maybe something like GHOST IT could work, or any tracing kind of programme. You would need to copy from the original course then "trace" it onto the new course. .Not exactly importing but it''s all I can think of off the top of my head. I don''t see any way of doing it without tracing. |

The first question is only possible if you want to import shapes from an existing course plot file to a new one. It can be done using the course wizard.

You can't import from one active plot file to another one that has already been started, as far as I know, other then just using tracing techniques.
The second question I'm not sure about. '.ACH' may have been an old format from an earlier version of the series. Either an older architect format or possibly some auxiliary file that could have been added for sound or trees or who knows what that since became defunct but was never removed from the program. |

I've Imported many shapes from one course to another of mine. I've imported all 18 holes with the method. Here in the forum a designer explains it in a ez way. |

Also make a text file for the hole Put the hole lsf file, BMP file and text file in Tigers Woods PGA Tour> Data>Architect>Power Catalog> Par 3 or par 4 or par 5 folder for your hole Should show in CA wizard.
Hope this is what you need.

Yes Rob, that was the link I already posted and referred to. It only works transferring shapes from an existing plot to a new one. It uses the course wizard which is only accessible when a new course is being created. Once the course file has been started, the user can't go back and access the wizard again.
Also, I went back and looked at the .ACH file thing in the architect program. In the drop down menu it adds more detail. It says "PGA Architect Files (*.ach)".
So I believe it is as I suggested. It was a way to import architect files from the much older versions of the game. It likely serves no useful purpose for us at this point. It was probably a hold over from the 2002 version of the architect converting the TW99 courses or something like that. |
