Hello,
So I am a new designer using the CA06 to play courses in TW2008. I am currently using Windows 10, and have (somehow) managed to install Windows XP Virtual Machine on my computer in order to compile courses from the CA. I do have several questions regarding this which are below, but please point me to a topic that may have covered this before if it is available.
Do you need to install CA06, TW06, TW08, CLSetup06, TWCaddie08, and download all the used libraries on your course in the Virtual Machine in Windows XP?
How do you get your course you have designed in CA06 in Windows 10 into the CA06 in the Virtual Machine (Windows XP)?
Once you compile your course using Windows XP in the Virtual Machine, how do you return to playing it in TW08 on Windows 10?
Please forgive me for being ignorant, but I am new to this process and have tried to read up on this as much as possible. I have got a course I have already designed in Windows 10 for TW08, but whenever I added trees the course would crash to the desktop when using TW08 in Windows 10, so that is why I am going the XP route.
Thanks in advance! |

Hello,
I am not a specialist with Virtual machine, but i will try to help you. So you are designing your course on windows 10, and now you have to compile it on your Virtual Machine. You have to install on your virtual machine, in order as listed: --------------------------------------------------------------- TW06 CA06 CLsetup06
After that you have to install all required libraries in TW06 on your virtual machine, with CLsetup06 ( so be sure you have the same libraries installed in tW06 on virtual machine as you have them in TW06 on Win10 ) After that you have to open your CA file with Course architect06 on your virtual machine, and try to compile it.
when you course is compiled you can try it in TW08 on your win10 system. ( install it with TWCaddie08 on your win10 system )
For your other question: How to Share Your Computers Files With a Virtual Machine: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Virtual machines are isolated containers, so the guest operating system in the virtual machine doesn t have access to your computer s file system. You ll have to set up shared folders in a program like VirtualBox or VMware to share files. Follow the instructions on link below to share your files:
https://www.howtogeek.com/189974/how-to-share-your-computers-files-with-a-virtual-machine/
Note: when you have error message in CA: XP Mode in Virtual PC: "out of memory"....follow help on link below:

Thanks Gunpowder.
Now that I think of it, I may as well just download and install everything in XP, including TW08. That way, I don t have to go between XP and Windows 10 compiling courses and playing them. Seems simpler to me at least. |

Yes, maybe it is easier to install everything on your Virual machine, including TW08. |
