I have forgotten how tedious it is to make a real course without the terrain assist tool. Especially all these crazy shaped bunkers! Look for a new major championship course within the next month or two. I will update here. |

I think it's finally time to share how this project is going.
I have been working on the Los Angeles Country Club, host of the 2023 US Open. This has probably been one of the most fun projects I have ever done. The course was restored in 2010 after it had been modified over the past 6 or so decades.
This document was a fantastic tool. It was written by Gil Hanse, who oversaw the entire rebuild of the course, which made it back into the original George Thomas gem. This really is a hidden gem of a golf course and I cannot wait to see it in the spotlight in a few years.
Here are some comparison shots from the course renovation guide. I did the best I can with the pano and the clubhouse. The pano is really good but some of the skyline might be off just a tad.

Wow, those are some really great shots. 4, 8, 11 and 18 in particular look both pretty much spot on and really translate well in-game. This looks like a really great re-creation.
Only one thing caught my attention and that was the primary bunker visible on 9. It's outline looks very simple/smooth whereas the photo shows the same ragged edging that most the bunkers have. I know all too well the difficulties of trying to create those ragged edge bunkers while fighting the limitations of the architect. It's no easy task but you look to have done a great job of the other bunkers. I know that's nitpipcking but it just jumped out compared to all the other ones.
Great job. sure to be a hit upon release! |

Thanks for the feedback Q. I messed a little with the bunker. Hopefully it's better now.
I have updated the Google Doc with several more (hopefully better) pictures. |

I know there isn't a ton of beta testing done anymore, but if anyone would like to run through the course quickly, I'd be very appreciative.
I'm looking for unplayable pins and lag along with other major issues. |

If you're still looking for testers, I'll give it a look tonight. Used to do that at CGX a bit.
