Hello there,
Must have been 10 years since my last activity in this game. I think i gave it up when it turned out that it didn't wpork very well in windows7. But I recently thought I'd give TW another try. To my surporise I found that my version of TW07 tuns on my windows10 pc with not too many problems. Since I always enjoyed xourse design also, I installed the CA with some help of my old friends here at this site. That also works.
I do have a problem compiling courses, though. I can compile the course, but only without any objects on it. If I do it with the objects, the game either crashes on loading or all the trees look like they just went through a serious forest fire.
Apparently one needs XP to compile courses in a decent fashion. Is there a way around this? I designed a little 9 hole course and I would like to check it out the way it's supposed to be.

Hiya Jimi,

Some people are running XP on Oracle Virtual box in Win10, for some people it works that way, but some other members reported problems, so not sure it is always working that way.
Another thing you can do is to send your course architect file to another designer so he can compile your course on XP, but that is a hassle.

Maybe I can find an XP pc somewhere. In the meantime, I guess I'll have to find someone to compile my courses for me, but that is indeed a hassle...

Well, I gave it a try. I even ordered a copy of TW08, which I installed yesterday. Worked fine. But after restarting my pc this morning and trying to start te game again, I got the message that my system is incompatible and that I shoulkd upgrade to Windows 2000 or higher. Ironic...
I tried designing a few courses, but only the one proved to be compilable. Thanks to Patyrick for compiling it for me. It's here: http://www.coursedownloads.com/coursesource/coursedetails.asp?id=9484
I have two mostly finished tca files that designers can have a go at if they like. So just let me know and I'll send them to you.
Pity I couldn't get it to work.

Hiya Jimi, that error message means you have to run TW08 in Compatibility mode, it is explained on link below, i think you are on Win10 ?

I have noticed that the problem with compiling courses seems to lie with the trees and bushes. If I leave them off, the course compiles and plays without problems.
Now I'm wondering if it's a problem of there being any trees or bushes at all, or if there is a certain limit to the number you can use. I'll try and experiment a little.

Hiya Jimi, yes adding trees is a big problem when you try to compile on a win10 system.
Once you add some trees then the compiling will fail, also adding structures may end in a fail when compiling.

I have had no problem with structures so far. I could of course build only radical links courses, with no trees at all.
