The game looks great and they have a very promising course creator:

We are proud to announce that The Golf Club will leave Early Access and officially release on Steam for the PC on August 19th, 2014 for $34.99!

See the full details below:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

“THE GOLF CLUB”, TEES OFF NEXT GEN GOLFING THIS AUGUST
HB Studios Announces Full Retail Release Date For Golf Simulator

(Nova Scotia, CAN) Aug 12, 2014 -- Canadian video game developer, HB Studios, today announced that its golf simulation, The Golf Club will launch on Xbox One through Xbox Live on August 19, 2014. The Golf Club will also leave early access for a full retail release on Windows PC through digital download distribution service Steam the same day. The PlayStation 4 version of The Golf Club will launch later this month pending certification approval. Credited with making some of the most critically acclaimed sport franchises on the EA SPORTS label, HB Studios has developed the first golf title to bring procedurally generated courses to next gen console. The Golf Club is a highly realistic game that allows players to fully customize their golfing experience by creating and playing the course of their dreams with the built-in Greg Norman Course Designer.

“We are incredibly excited to give golf fans the game they’ve always wanted,” said Anthony Kyne, Producer at HB Studios. “No other golf game provides players with this level of customization and sophistication in course design on PC and next generation consoles. We’ve worked extremely hard to get The Golf Club ready for launch, so it’s really rewarding to officially announce the launch date and share that with our fans.”

The Golf Club is a fully featured golfing experience where users can play against friends’ and rivals’ best rounds in turn-based/asynchronous competition modes enhanced by cloud-based technology. The game supports Tours & Tournaments, stroke play, match play, and 4-ball.

The Golf Club’s Greg Norman Course Designer allows players to build an unlimited number of golf courses, which can then be shared and played with friends online. New courses can be generated in a matter of seconds by selecting a theme, terrain features, and number of holes. Players can then enjoy a full suite of editing tools from changing the time of day to placing hazards and objects to create the ultimate golf challenge. Players can also discover new courses built by friends and the community by filtering through rank and difficulty, as well as interact with new members of The Golf Club through the Message Center.

Are there real course renditions out there for this game so far in the community. That's the deal braker for me when it comes to golf simulators as I'm not a big fan of fantasy courses.

Yes there are some real courses that have already been created by members, I`m sure that more real courses will be created once some of the better course designers out there give the program a try.

For now though there is a website created by a individual with nothing to do with the game devs, that rates courses created by members and I have seen some real courses being rated there.

http://www.pocketscout.us/The-Golf-Club/category/type/real-life/

Playing one of these courses is simple, click tee off, choose game type, and next when you see the course list there`s a search tab where you can type in the name of the course and search or you can browse through the list of public courses.

once you find one to play, just click on the course and you are instantly playing it, no files to download, no waiting, no game ranger advertising lol.

You can see other players full body and shots when the setting (Turn Order) is enabled, you can find the setting by pressing esc during the game.

I have had friends get disconnected from the internet during a game and rejoin back into the game by clicking on continue game, then we disable turn order for him to catch up to us, then we re enable turn order and we are back playing our 4 some once again, this is a great feature that I have never seen before. he could also finish his round the next day if he wanted to while playing along with us as ghosts even though we are all offline.

HB studios created all the Madden football games, NHL hockey, and fifa soccer games for EA so they know how to make a game but this golf game that they created has nothing to do with EA games.

I had a look at some of these real courses on the link. TBH I don't think they look as good as courses made using TW course designer. They all look a bit "cartoony"

Check the system requirements to play the game and keep in mind that screen shots never look as good as it does inside the game (in any Game), this game supports High resolutions unlike most older golf games, so the system requirements are much higher.

It does not look cartoony at all in game, it looks real. Get used to no jagged edges along the outsides of your golfers arms ect.

Hopefully someone else with the system requirements will try this besides me and report back here.

The Golf Club is okay, but in my opinion far from being NextGen. It's average when it comes to visuals and overall gameplay.

Visuals:

I'm using the latest SweetFX Shader-Suite with TW08. With my SweetFX-settings courses designed by TW08 Master-Designers or public available CGAX courses look way more realistic than the TGC courses I played to date. A few guys in the Steam forums, including me, mentioned the rather bad look when it comes to trees, shadows, reflections, texturing and lightning - overall it does look unnatural and plastic. That's not what I expect from a NextGen golf game. Sorry to say, but the visuals have not improved since the first early access release.

Gameplay:

Compared to TW08 or Links, The Golf Club is just lost when it comes to the most important part of a great game - the gameplay. I don't care about visuals when the gameplay is great. I own a lot of Indie-Games with really bad visuals. What makes these games stunning and addictive is the gameplay.

I'm sure that HB Studios will address that issues in future patches. For now, TGC is an average game that cannot get close to TW08 or Links in my opinion.

Yes I go with what Jo says all the way.
Spawntarget you have just spoken to 2 of the best course designers here Bullpup and Munroco, who will not be impressed by any real courses at TGC.

Your first post was wrong ,that game I think is mostly played with game-pads as the preferred swing type, it does not take much reading of the forums there to find things out and look at courses created.

This is Royal Melbourne GC that i found on TGC forum.

From that I can conclude Real Courses are for the moment a no go for that course designer but as Jo says it could improve.

But again as Jo says they cannot get any where near the CGAX.
The game requires a very big Graphics card.
