Long time user here of the Tiger Woods series of golf sims, after many years I decided to get back into a bit, got me a nice used copy of TW08 for pc and installed it, was working fine. I have installed about 6 custom courses and they have all played fine as well, today I installed the Cypress Point custom course and now when I go to start TW08 it says that TW08 isnt compatible with my operating system.

I am running windows 8 64 bit, upgraded to windows 8.1 64bit, like I said everything was working fine until I installed the custom Cypress Point course.

Has anyone else encountered this or have any suggestions as to what is going on?

Thanks
Terry

Hiya,

On desktop you should have TW08 program icon.
This is how you can get the TW08 icon on your desktop:
Go to the bin folder in TW08, see path below:
C:\Program Files (;x86)\EA Sports\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\bin

Now inside the bin folder right click the TW08.exe icon, and in list choose: Copy to...and choose: Desktop
Now you will have the Tw08 icon on your desktop.

1.On your desktop, right-click the TW08 icon and choose Properties.

2.When the Properties dialog box appears, click the Compatibility tab and then click the Run Compatibility Troubleshooter button.

In its robotic way, Windows 8 tries to guess what version of Windows your program needs, and then it applies the changes. If the program begins working, youre through.

If the program still has trouble, though, move to Step 3.

3.In the Compatibility Mode section, select the Run This Program in Compatibility Mode For check box and select XP from the drop-down list.

4.Click OK and then try running TW08 again to see whether it works better. (; It is possible you have to restart your PC before it works )

Important note: When you do the compatibility thing, it is possible your system will say it will not work in compatibility mode, but just finish it and restart your PC and it should work !!!!

I got tw08 to work on my pc but now once again pc is saying that game isnt compatible with my OS.

I am running windows 8 upgraded to 8.1, the game ran fine for weeks and now I get the compatibility issue again.

Please note that in windows 8 one has to go to settings/control panel/troubleshooting and then click programs, the compatiblity checker then comes up with a list of programs on your pc, one then picks tw08 and go from there.

Like i said when I did this about 3 weeks ago it fixed the problem and now it doesn't, getting really upset about this, can someone help me who is running windows 8.

many thanks
Terry

Hello Terry,

You sure you restarted your Pc after the compatibility thing:
When you do the compatibility thing, it is possible your system will say it will not work in compatibility mode, but just finish it and restart your PC

I remember someone had the same problem, and he got it fixed with a system restore:

Thanks for the reminder Gun, windows 8 has a funny way of running the compatibility checker, even though it says that it didn't fix anything it then asks in a round about way if you want to save the change anyway. (which I wasn't doing)

After selecting save the changes anyway and then restarting the PC (which I wasn't also doing) the game is now up and running again.

So now hopefully this is burned in my brain, lol.

Thanks
Terry

Hi Pat

Good to know answer's(not that I'll ever use OS 8). But your answer and some others I'v
read over the past few months. Are worthy to be posted every now and then, like the
"Confidence folder Fix". Just a thought!!!. I noticed the "Active Topics" here, but
no "Topics" tab on main page. I forgot, how does one look for a spicific topic to find
a solution you(one)might need help with..THANKS

Dawg, I use the Search option, just above this box, next to members list, and type in key words, that works a lot of times..

Yes as Larry said the search box can help a lot of times.
I am using the search box on top left(; at right side of Home ), it gives me the best results.
Anyway this weekend i will have a look to make some items sticky in the forum.
