After a long time away from the game I just recently purchased a used dvd copy of TW08 for pc and I am playing again. Is the online part of TW08 still actively working or do I have to go to the newer online version in order to play online?
As a side not when I try to get to the online play screen in TW08 for PC all I get is a black screen, can someone help me with this?

Hiya Tcman, welcome back.
The Easo servers of EAsports are closed for a few years now.
So you can t play TW08 online on EAsports servers anymore, that is why you receive the black screen.
But there are other options:
Some people are playing each other on Gameranger, go to link below:
http://www.gameranger.com/
(;One of the games that is supported on Gameranger is TW08)
On Gameranger you can host or you can join a game.
Another option is:
On this site you can go to section: Community links
On Homepage of Coursedownloads, left side bottom you will find section: Community links
There you will find several sites.
Some sites are using a separate game launcher (; Golf - 4fun tour.....CGX Tour )
Golf - 4Fun Tour supports all levels
The other sites you find in section Community links are using Hamachi or are playing on Gameranger
Something else:
When you reinstalled TW08, don t forget to do the confidence folder fix.
This is an old post, but i repost it for new members:
There is a bug in the TW08 game, all members should do this fix.
When you played some courses you will see the loading times between holes are increasing, the game will become slower and slower.
Do next steps to solve the problem:
1) On desktop you will see the folder My Documents. Open this folder.
(; when you are using Vista or Win7: on desktop look for folder: User (;or username).....inside you will find My documents )
2) Inside My documents look for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2008. Open this folder and then open the folder Career
3) Inside Career open the folder Players. Inside this folder, look for your playersname folder and open it.
4) Open the folder Confidence.
5) Inside you will find these files: Hole Type.tcn and Shot Type.tcn. delete both files.
6) Important step here! Restart the TW08 game and play 1 hole on any stock course, then close TW08 game.
7) Go back to same Confidence folder and you will see both files are regenerated: but now they are very small in size. Now right click the Hole Type.tcn file and choose Properties. Check the box next to Read Only and click OK. Now do the same thing for the Shot Type.tcn file. |

thanks gunpower , I pretty much figured that the online part wasnt good anymore, to be honest I didnt really get the game for that, I played online for years and it got a little over the top, I used to play a online tour called clambakers, they used a gamelauncher etc.
I did see the confidence fix, will try that later on today.

| Clambakers should still be around but you need to join CGX (used to be called PGAX) which is a pay site. They still use the launcher to play tournies. |
