yes some other members had the same problem, it suddenly stopped working, no idea how to fix it. I remember Dawg8 had the same problem, he tried everything and nothing solved the problem. |

The LAN-Lobby requires an active ethernet adapter. If there's no active adapter or your network adapters are messed up the message is displayed.
You could try the Microsoft Loopback Network Adapter. It emulates a network environment, takes over when no other network is available. The game should then run fine in LAN-Mode while not connected to your main network.

Hi Jo
Not sure what you mean about a network adapter....My problem is that Connection Status problem...BUT when I was still playing at the Golf-4Fun site I had NO PROBLEM playing 4Fun rounds. So I could play when online, just NOT in Offline Lan mode. Also argon22 I uninstalled and reinstalled TW08 several times...still same problem. Now this is on my WIN 7 64bit Home Edtion, What I did was take it to a local Tech co. and had them partion my hard drive and install XP sevice pack 3 on the partion. And now I can play on that machine using XP to play in LAN MODE OFFLINE no problem or play ONLINE. So Im thinking I have an active ethernet adapter....right ???
P.S. argon 22 if you can figure this Connection Status problem...please let me know...THANKS...remember this is on my WIN 7 machine...again thanks |

Gun wrote that you have the same problem, so I have searched for the posting where you mentioned it and found this.
@dawg8 "On another note, if you are using Windows 7, see if you can play by your self in LAN mode OFFLINE(not hooked to the internet)My Win 7 computer will not let me. But I can play in LAN mode when online ... "
So I cut the connection to my router and indeed the message you guys mentioned was displayed.
About the adapters: start a Command Prompt, type ipconfig, and you will see the ethernet adapters of your system. If you e.g. cut the connection to the router the status of the LAN ethernet adapter turns into "media disconnected", resulting in the TW08 game message.
There have to be at least one active ethernet adapter, otherwise playing "offline" in LAN-Mode is not possible. With the mentioned Loopback adapter it's possible to start a LAN-game without a connection to a network.
I just wonder why you want to start a LAN-game without connection to a network? |

The Off line LAN connection to play the game simulates being on-line, as in your clubs hit the real distances , good for testing yardages playing Expert level,In Custom games you can hit the ball miles.
I got an [network not connected icon ] appear in the systray near the Time of day, after i installed Tunggle! this old PC is on XP. The removal of Tunngle did not fix it.
The picture above i attached is miss leading us , as now when trying to set-up the Off line LAN game i`am not getting to the LAN Lobby part , the attached pic is the screen that pops up instead. I also use this for testing courses i make.
Problems people had with Tunggle on this link, but there from a while back http://www.tunngle.net/community/topic/18321-computer-screwed-up-after-instal-tunngle/ |

Hi Jo
argon22 answered your question about why someone would want to play in LAN mode OFFLINE(to simulate yardages like playing online)actually thought everyone knew about how to do this. Also I DO NOT have a router, just a DSL modem. Again if I can play online, doesn't mean that my machine has a ethernet adapter. I plug my ethernet cable into my modem and into my ethernet port on my machines and can play ONLINE |

"I plug my ethernet cable into my modem and into my ethernet port on my machines and can play ONLINE" | every PC/laptop that connects to the internet has an ethernet adapter, thats whats connected to the PC end of your cable once you plug it in from the dsl modem
you can also create a Pro player which by default is set to 75% attributes, same as all players once they go to an online mode
- some players find a difference between LAN play and custom play with a Pro player so most do use LAN for practice for any online games the play |

Right, forgot about that there's a slight difference between an online and offline 75% player. Thanks for reminding me.
Dawg, that's the problem. When you unplug the modem-cable the adapter turns inactive and you get the message in game. I did the same on my system, unplugged the ethernet cable and there was the message. What you can do is to install the Loopback Adapter, so the game does have a network it can work with when your modem<->pc cable is unplugged.
If that doesn't work something else is causing the message. |

Hi JB
That's what I figured about the ethernet adapter. As far as I pro player that's what I have and used when I used to play at an online golf site. I also have(over the years) created amiture players to play the Tiger challenges, those are lots of fun. This past month I have created another amiture player and stop adding experince points at 40%(even though)I have over 100,000 points built up. At 40% playing the features like skill's challenge, and shootouts, with the computer players at expert level is great fun. Your less likely to win all the time. Thanks for your info. |

Hi Jo
Unpluging the ethernet cable, and getting the Connection Status must be a problem on Win 7 machines. Because it does not, and has never happened on any of my Win XP machines. However, that being said, Gunpower61(;Pat) said he tryed it, and did not have the problem on his laptop. Not sure what version of Win 7 he is using. My guess is that my computer that I ordered from Cyberpower, when(;how) they set it up the network(;homegroup)or what ever, might be in some way be blocking me from playing in Lan mode Offline. But since my experience with Win 7 is very limited, I have no idea what to do or where to start...later |

I am on win8 now, and in LAN offline mode i receive the error message now. ( Game already in use ) So i tried a few things. I set up a game in Lan Online mode ( internet connected ), and i can play a round alone without opponents. I think this way you can play a test round alone, on any course with the same conditions as you play online with opponents. This is what i did:
Start TW08....choose: Play Online....LAN...and add Username....Login...New Game...and add: Game name + difficulty level + control method Click: Next....and again: Next...choose the course...Next...and click: Tee Off Now you will receive message: Not all players submitted golfer, do you want to proceed alone ? Choose: Yes

I unplugged the Modem or Hud cable from the PC ethernet adapter, The off line LAN then works |

guess im confused about LAN on vs off line, or confused about WHY you are making that distinction
if you set up a game in LAN and dont connect to another player via direct ip or hamachi or tunngle etc
how are you online ??? your PC is not connecting to anyone or anything
yet you can simulate the online experience re golfer, attributes, etc
the name in use message that once in a while shows up is usually after a failure to connect to another player (;for me)
so exit LAN, create a game with a different name, works fine
same experience with XP and Win7, 2 different machines |

Have tryed diff name...game..etc...have never used Hamachi...Tunngle...or Direct IP. This problem happened and started on a new Win7 computer. It's been over a year now, so I do not remember if I had even hooked it up to the internet before I tryed to play TW 08 in Lan mode Offline, and got the Connection Status message. Like I said I think it might be in the set up by Cyberpower(network wise) that is causing the problem. But being less knowledgeable with Win7 not sure what to do!!!!!!!!! |

still confused
does it work if you select LAN online?
if so, use that
if you are not connecting to anyone or any 3rd party service - then you are basically playing offline regardless of what the game says |
