Hallo!
Does it exist a tutorial explaining how to create new customer CPU players?
Thanks a lot.
Ciao!

Thx for your kind reply, Argon. What I found - if I'm not wrong - are just a lot of CPU players created 4 years ago; what I mean, on the contrary is a guide to build other players, who - in real season - are presently high-ranked but don't appear among those disposable.
Ciao!

Create the player using the in-game gameface tool.
In the player select screen, switch your new player from human to computer, then assign his CPU attributes.
When finished, copy his plr file from the Documents / TW 08 / Career / Players folder, and paste it in the C: / Program Files / EA Sports / TW 08 / Players / PGA Tour (;or whichever) folder.
Note: the player must remain switched to computer for the plr file to work. If you accidently switch the player back to human before copying and pasting his plr file, the game will not read the file. |

ooops, mistake! |

Thx a lot, Bangus, for your kind answer: Im starting to understand something...
Another couple (;mmmm... maybe more :) ) of questions, please:
1. Its possible to use given up files for creating new custom players? I try to explain myself in a better way: I have a file, ok? What happens if I simply rename it as, for example, ? Nothing? May I somehow edit internal files list?
2. Whats the function of other files (;.hal, or those contained in players folder in ... > career > players)? Are they editable too and where?
3. Is it possible to add new courses to PGA Champ season?
Ciao from Roma!

Hi Franco. You cannot simply rename a file, that will not work. But creating a new cpu player only takes 3-4 minutes if you skip the tutorial and do not spend time on his appearance. I do not spend time adjusting the appearance of the player because I do not add match events to my custom season, therefore my cpu opponents never appear onscreen during a tournament.
The hal/cal files are not required if you are only creating a player/plr file to add to the PGA Tour folder. You do though need to keep the folder that is named after the player (;same location as the plr file). The files in that folder adjust the appearance of the cpu player in-game during match play events, etc.
When playing the default PGA Tour career, the game draws players from the 3 different Tour folders, depending on the tournament: PGA Tour, PGA Champ, and PGA Small. A couple of years back I spent some time figuring out which folder was used for each tournament, but I lost that list. If you want to figure it out for yourself, I can tell you an easy way to do that.
Otherwise, you can create your own custom PGA Tour career/season and custom cpu opponent Tour folders, and then assign the specific players you want to include in any tournament you play. There are restrictions though as the game will randomly choose around 150 players per tournament. So if you want to include specific players in specific tournaments, you need to keep the number of plr files in the Tour folder to 150 or less.
One last thing: Tiger Woods, and any player you create named Tiger Woods, will always shoot much better than players who have the identical cpu abilities. So you have to adjust for that. What I did is I created my own Tiger Woods plr file, and then adjusted his cpu abilities so his average round score was 3 shots worse than the other top pros. That worked for me.

Thx again, Bangus
Another problem: you wrote "In the player select screen, switch your new player from human to computer"... I didn't get the point, or - better - I didn't find any chance of selecting "human" or "cpu"... Pliz, could you indicate me the right passages, as I were (I am) a real "dummy"?
Thank you.

Create your new player in gameface. When you create a new golfer, he becomes your default golfer. Now go back to the startup screen and switch golfers so that your Franco golfer (or some other golfer) is your default golfer. Next, choose game modes / custom game. When you arrive at the golfer select screen, you will see your newly-created golfer on the left. Highlight him, and he will appear in the middle of the screen. Under his name is a menu with two options, human and computer. Change him to computer; the computer ability button will then appear and now you can edit his abilities. |

Hi Bangus, i was under the impression Franco wanted stronger opponents in the in-game Tour ect: doing the latter only creates an Amatuer player with no Attributes and only $10,000 cash, Franco ?do you want a better challenge in the game,if so do this. Create new player you can chose Pro , this gives you 75% Attributes and $100,000,now forget the Tour go right into the Fedex Cup, |

Hi Argon. I am the one who created the updated cpu opponents file that you suggested Franco download. My instructions above can be used to create both pro-level cpu opponent files for use in career mode play, and cpu golfers to play against if one is simply wanting to play a casual skins, match, shootout, etc game vs 1-3 cpu opponents. |
