Hey folks,
I'm just getting back into TW2008. I have to say this is a great site; lots of good information, terrific courses and extras. Also a real helpful group of people.
Just wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks for using the true swing. No matter how I position and operate the mouse, I seem to get all mis-hits on the toe and outside in club path.
It is kinda like my real life golf game..90% bad shots and 10% good shots ;)
Maybe it's just practice, practice and more practice.
Thanks, |

Depends on the mouse as well, some are more sensitive than others. I bought a trackball mouse years ago for TW 08 because I found my normal mouse wasn't sensitive enough and made hitting with true swing much too easy. |

The Game it`s self on the more difficult levels ,Adv & Expert makes the Mouse`s X or Y Axis more sensitive, |

That is what it comes down to, yes. One thing I thought of: you can adjust mouse sensitivity in your PC control panel, that might be something to look into. I play using the swing meter now so I have not checked that out myself. |

Yes 2 click , IMO you can handle any level, 3 click on Adv / Expert is tough going, but being completely honest with the right OS it is common knowledge that theres a soft ware prog you install that keeps the Mouse Axis X or Y 100% Straight, For True Swing V or H |

Hi Argon. Yes, that is wat I play, 3 click Expert. I have been playing PC golf sims since the late 19080s when clicking was the norm. Old habits die hard and I never really developed much interest in true swing when it was introduced in these newer golf games. |

Argon, I play expert because I do not like the CPU selecting clubs and shot types for me, nor do I like knowing club distances pre-shot. But I do not like having no grid, if TW had a green reading tool like Links does, it would be okay. It is too hard to read breaks in TW at times. The gamepad swing is too consistant with not enough shot-result varibles, try it in practice mode and see. |

I to always play Expert with no yardage chart, the reason being i hit an average 106% on True Swing V, i would need to recaculate my hitting distances, Easy using windows Spread sheet ,but i cannot be bothered, i also have fun playing TW 2006 on Expert ,the hitting distance of the clubs is some what less thanTW 2008, and i do have the soft ware installed to keep the TS V , 100% straight, i play for fun at the end of the day the score does not bother me. |

True Swing is really what has kept me playing TW. I've worked my way up to Advanced level. One thing I've always hated about a lot of golf sims, especially console versions is that every drive was in the fairway. Even the pros don't do that. Some days I swing pretty well and other days I struggle to put it in the fairway and yes I pull/push a lot of my putts, but it's all part of the real game. I would never consider using a ruler. I'll never shoot in the 50's but my game is similar to an average pro. To me it makes the game more interesting because I'll often have to hit a fairway wood or irons off the tee to keep it in play and you have to really focus on tempo. Watch the average pro play a round and think about how often he has to scramble. I like birdies, but to me golf is pretty boring when every hole is fairway, green, birdie. |

I just replaced my optical mouse with a (not too expensive) Logitech M510 laser mouse. It seem to work much better for true swing. |
