Having a problem with the water settings for the TW 07 game on a laptop, it will not change the settings to High or Very High. The settings are changed than it defaults back to medium. The game itself when starting up is not in full screen mode the boarders are cut, which is fine, cant figure what is causing the issue. On my very old PC with XP, the water is fine, start up is full screen and you can set it to high or very high.
Is there any kind of file you can edit in the game to make it always high or very high? Any fixes for this?
Having really figured out the water reflections as of yet (;think this is a problem both with 07 & 08 can’t recall),
However one step at a time. |

Hiya Hyno, maybe you patched TW07 game to V1.1, some more info below.
When TW07 came out, it had several bugs, the most important of which was that the physics of sidehill and uphill lies was not correct. Another was that there were no water reflections on custom courses. A workaround was found by a course architect and many custom courses were made with this workaround so that the water on courses looked better. When the v1.1 patch came out, it fixed the lies problem, but it broke the workaround for the water. So the result was you either had realistic physics with worse looking courses or you had good looking courses with inaccurate physics. Since EA was so late in coming out with the patch, a lot of players were used to how the game played and were more interested in good looking courses. Also, the patch was only released officially for the North American versions of the game. So players in other parts of the world had v1.0 without any lie effects and those in North America had 2 versions to choose from. EA did not change EASO to make the patch required for online play, so literally you could have players playing with different versions of the game. Some tours chose to stay with v1.0 so everyone was playing with the same game.

Gunpower61,
This is a weird problem per say, and I am sure it has happened to others. Using newer PCs
Basically have the 07 game installed and running on 3 computers.
On the XP machine am able to change the water setting.
On both Laptops (;Windows 8 & Windows 7 when using manual settings not auto settings. This is what happens.
Switch the water setting to High or Vry High.....Once I exit out of the settings, and then go back in, the settings are always set to medium. This is the only setting in the game which always re-sets itself back to medium.
Medium water settings in 07;; cause of the problems with the water looks terrible.
Cant figure this little glitch out in the game.....
On the laptop, which is a Toshiba I7, with a bigger than normal screen (;in HD), the game itself looks awesome. But the water looks terrible.
The patch has nothing to do with the setting problem. Same results with the patch and no patch.
Thanks, |

Are you by chance using the Wide Screen patch? |

No, don t think you have to use the widescreen patch, but maybe the patch can cause the setting problem. When you don t use the widescreen patch there must be another problem. You are using a laptop with onboard graphics chipset. Maybe the graphics chipset can t handle the high and very high settings, just guessing though, not sure. |

Just Installed 08, and it basically has the same type of dead water issues. Have the game installed on now 3 different laptops and it is the same problem. The XP machine is from 04 and everything is good on that machine. It is not a graphics card problem per say, cause the one laptop is pretty much top of the line. It may have something to do with the game not being in full screen. When the game is played it is full screen. Was wondering if the graphics had like an ini file were I can just manually adjust and set the water to high or vry high. |

Based on my experiences in 08, water only looks good on low or medium shader settings. Low, to me, is the best. You get reflections and water shimmer and movement and it looks very nice up close. Medium, you get reflections and more water movement, and it is a richer look from farther away, but to me it almost looks fake when you get really close. Once you get above medium, for me anyway, you lose all reflections. |
