A huge number of the TW game graphic files are DDS (DirectDraw Surface) files. Most free or low cost graphics editors can't open or edit them. But this free program "Paint.net" can do it easily. I use it mainly for putting text labels on those annoying game buttons with either no descriptive text (the ones that just say NO LOGO in red on black) or the ones where the I myself just can't hardly read what the button designer meant to show. Or the designer just did an abstract and we're expected to remember when we have hundreds of course buttons. The buttons are ALL named simply "logo.dds" but the game knows which is which because each lives in each course's folder, for instance the C:\Program Files\EA Sports\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\Courses\Orchard Valley GCC folder.

Navigate to your folder containing the logo.dds, then Open the logo.dds With Paint.net.
Edit... well this is the step where some will get stuck. But if you've ever used the Text tool in any graphics program it's very easy. Use a regular paintbrush or eraser to create a large blank area on the button, then pick T for text, then just like in Word you pick a Font, a font size and maybe Bold, then cursor onto the button exactly where you want your first letter and start typing. "Enter" will move you down a line, yes, just like text. Then Save. When Saving, Paint.net will throw up some tweaking choices but I've found just leaving the defaults intact works fine. Once you've done one button you'll see how easy it is.
Here you can see Paint.net with the logo.dds for Orchard Valley open. I'd already put the yellow name text on this black NO LOGO button. You can notice on the left panel I've selected the T for Text button, up top you can see I've chosen the Arial font, size 20, Bold. I've selected that kelly green on the color panel, clicked into the blank area and typed A. See, not so hard. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA |

either the designer did not include one
or the user did not install the course correctly
jeff jarvis also has excellent tutorials in the tutorial section of utilities on splashes, flags, logos etc

This page in the Utilities section has downloads of logos and splash for approx 100 courses that do not have them with the course download. These courses are from years prior to TW2008 which is why there is no logo etc. The list includes an excellent logo for Orchard Valley

yes thanks. sometimes though the designer included one but the backdoor sender didn't know/bother, i.e. those are not CDL myZips. installed correct sort of, but incomplete. |

Thanks Jimbo, this is great and so obviously much better for Orchard. I'll go through these to find the gems that pertain to me.
But, going forward, there could be a sad soul or two who will benefit from my little helper. |
