Has anybody tried to use the game with Windows 8? I tried several copies, and got terrible graphics - distortion, color problems, no display on some items.

Hi...

Yes several people are using Win8, it should work. looks like a graphics problem.
What graphics card are you using ?

In know that people using AMD Radeon graphics card had problems running the game, see link below:

Maybe you can try steps below:

On desktop you should have TW08 program icon.

On desktop Right-click the programs icon and choose Properties.

When the Properties dialog box appears, click the Compatibility tab and then click the Run Compatibility Troubleshooter button.

Now in the list try to run in Win7 mode.....or you can try to run in XP mode.
