I am trying a new player on expert for 08 and I can get no distance with with any clubs compared to advanced.
I used to play expert back in 04 and 06 but I do not remember this problem. I know I have spent alot, and I mean alot, of time playing around with my mouse(razer death adder) to find the right settings for advanced(TS V) and notice no problems there. I have a logitech track ball as well and that is what I used to use to play on TS H.
Anyone else had problems with finding good settings for optical mice and does the windows 7 architecture make the game play different. Is there that big a difference from 06 to 08 in terms of game play physics. |

In expert you have to put your mouse on the overhead map to get distances, if that's what your looking for? |

Sorry should have been more specific. I can not hit near as far. My driver only goes about 230-250 instaed of the usual 280-310. Mabey I just stink that badly in expert. |

Hi....
On windows7 you will have fast swing, i had same problem. On win7 use: Stiff flex shafts........and you will have normal swing, and you will win distance.
I am not sure about offline play, but the equipment made a difference on online play. For example when you use stiff flex shafts you will win some distance, but the ball direction will be a bit harder to control. Also depends what level you play.....novice....intermediate...advanced or expert. Not sure it will make any difference on Novice, but it made difference on expert level. I played all available tours on expert level from 2005....until 2009, and equipment below gave me the best results on online play. A lot of my teammates used the same equipment in TW08:
Nike CPR Extra Stiff Flex Shafts, King Cobra FP Irons, EA 1-Under Edition Wedges, King Cobra Speed LD F Driver, King Cobra Speed Pro Fairway Woods, Bridgestone B330-S |

So I have another computer with XP running on it and decided to install TW 08 on it just to test it out. My goodness what a difference, I could actually play expert again. My distances were good and I was able to hit a fairly straight shot most of the time. It was more of what I remember expert to be. So now my question is does anybody know how to tweak Windows 7 so TW plays like it does in Xp? I am going to try and run in compatability mode and see what happens.
I do play offline mostly, but just joined the CGX tour so will be playing online more. Off line playing as an Intermediate right now (; but finding that to easy so started playing advanced and that is more challenging. Still, playing advanced in win 7 is just about as tough to hit a straight shot on expert playing it in xp. Guess I will be tweaking somemore.
Having to use certain equipment to acheive good results kinda sucks. You should be able to use all equipment to achieve the results you want. |

odd i have tw08 on xp and on win7 distance, clubs, gameplay all the same both are Pro players, so attributes locked at 75% in LAN play
if you're using an amatuer player - distance, margin of error etc depends on the playing level AND the attributes and if you play offline games, then you will see differences
try playing only in LAN(online) mode both Pro and Amatuer players are the same, 75% attributes |

JBcalg may I ask what kind of mouse you are using? I have noticed that the razer death adder mouse I bought is very sensitive for TW. I originally bought it for another game because it is much more responsive than my old trackball. I have tried using my trackball again and found that the game plays differently with it.
The razer has more settings that can be tweaked such as polling rate and Dpi so I am wondering if it is just the mouse. The death adder is a gaming mouse made for more responsive movements in FPS and RTS games. It is amazing how little movement is required, when when the DPI is turmed all the way up to 3500, to move the mouse across the screen.Guess I will just keep trying to tweak the settings.
Also I tried using the equipment that Gunpower suggested and was shocked to see how much farther I could hit it offline and online. I was a little skeptical, but all I can say is WOW. |

i use a basic logitech optical mouse for both systems - corded for XP machine, wireless for win7 laptop
laser mouse is much more sensitive to movement
for mouse movement, you can adjust the basic speed or fiddle the many options on a more sophisticated mouse
as GP said - flex of clubshafts is important - has to be coordinated with how you move your mouse i use short (;3-5 inches) back/forward motion, others use longer extra stiff shaft, king cobra woods/irons, mizuno wedges, b-330 ball
yeah - experiment to see what works best for you |
