The only Lazer yardages i know of are done ?say from the Tee positions to the middle of a green or from certain point of a hole to another point on a hole on real courses , because in the old days they used a yard stick , thats a measuring tool / ruler on a wheel, one revolution = 1 yard, the old way with a yard stick { gave a false length of a hole } as it is walked with round a course and obviously follows all the contours / elevations ect:
So a hole with the yard stick could measure say 436yds for example but would play a lot less because most of the time the ball is in the air cutting out all those small humps in the fairways.
Also i think a new course has to be measured with a lazer to become verified by the Local or even national Golf Course Associations as to it`s standard scratch score ect some thing like that:
Lazer mapping well these days any thing is possible i suppose as friends of mine now use sat navs while playing ? they must have changed the rules as view finders were once classed in the rules of golf as a Mechanical aid and so Banned.
Maybe not what you meant ? If you mean setting the Plot size in the Course Architect there are Experts here who know a lot more than me ,but i now set 1800 by 1800 or bigger |

Yeah Billy you right.a Hill or downward slope adds yardages to hole.I measure it by the shot path but only 3 times frm the tee to the most middle point then to the pin.But if u dont set the yardages right in the .ini file the game measure it like the crow flies,it disregards the shot path.I think measuring standards differs from country to country some still measure it on the metric system so it can be confusing. |

Quote from the Arch TUT: SHOT PATHS Shot paths are used to indicate the best way for computer-controlled golfers to approach the hole. For human golfers, the shot paths dictate where the golfer is initially aiming and what club he is using at the beginning of each shot. So, its important to give it some consideration, for you do not want to give the impression that the AI golfers have no idea how to play your course. Unquote. The last course i did Test 36, To be completely honest i knew nothing of setting the ini. But then again on multiple rounds i played on it before it was uploaded it played very accurate set on Nov, i did play expert round it as well of course. But above as was refering to Lazer measurements on the real thing, the LGU have to verify a new real course that way to approve the sss. well thats the way it used to be. |

Setting yardages with an ini.file ONLY changes the ydgs on the Scorecard NOT in the game.. The game automatically chooses the shortest path to the pin, we have no control over that..
I know that Tigerwoods PGA Tour Online browser game, we were told they used laser mapping to make there courses for the game...
I take that back, you can move the tee boxes to get the ydgs at least very close.. Sorry |
