been playing pc golf for a number of years, mainly links golf but also tiger woods since 2003,but this new game thats in the works looks like it will blow both of them out the water, one of the developers is mike jone,s one of the best golf course creators for the links golf game, well him and his team are working on a pc/console golf sim and have released a vidio of the games graphics engine on utube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcjCVoWrqcE he has been posting on the links forum,s and says the game play will be similar to link,s which is more or less same as tw golf

Just checked out the Links forum and viewed the video. I must say that it looks very impressive but will reserve judgement on it until I see what the game play is like. I also thought that the EA TWO online game looked good, but the game play was poor. One very interesting point is that it will come with a course design software, which will be simpler to use than APCD (which I have been trying to master, without success, way too complex for my old brain).

Gotta say that looks mighty good, but like Jimbo said I will reserve judgement until the final product comes out. I have been hoping that someone would come out with a new game to keep cyber golf alive and at least the initial visuals indicate this could do that. Only time will tell.

I'm not going to get my hopes up either but to Jimbo, this video looks miles better then TWO ever did to me. We will see what kind of mechanics they come up with, that was a big let down of TWO.. Peace

The course that you see at the start of the video is a Links 2003 course called Crystal Pines, which has been converted into the new game. It was designed by Mike Jones, who has designed many classy courses for Links 2003 using APCD, and anyone who can use that software has my admiration

It would take some sort of perverted genius to come up with something worse than TWO :)

This looks very promising, not least as it is being headed by a player/respected course designer, who would actualy have an understanding of the actual game, it's rules, ball physics, and other intracacies, so I will watch with great interest to see what happens, and would also echo some other's comments (from the links forum) that I would be happy to pay for such a product to support it's growth.

From the discussions in the links forum it would seem there IS going to be course making software, that is simpler to use than APCD but capable (in the right hands) of creating top quality courses.

Great news, and I have to applaud the people behind it for taking action about something that is so important to the PC golf Community.

Perhaps we could have a pinned thread to follow the progress?

Cheers,

Davy

This project needs plenty of support. If interested please sign the petition whose link appears in the attachment. It sure wouldnt hurt to have a fresh new golf simulation.

Just incase there is some confusion, I am taling about two seperate games in development. The one in my above posting containing the petition, I believe is headed by Mark Hulka, the Links Corner Forum Moderator. The one decribed under " Finally A True Golf Sim is Becoming A Reality", has Mike Jones heading the project. The Mike Jones project is well underway. If you are not familiar with Mike's work, Google Mike Jones 3D Course Design to get to his website and see for yourself what great talent this man has in the field of Course Architecture.

Otto, the one that Mark is promoting is affiliated with True Golf. Mike Jones's project is a totally seperate undertaking. If you go into the Lobby in the Links Corner Forum and under the topic header "When It Pours It Rains", the first post is by Mike Jones himself. He destinctly tells you that Mark's project is totally seperate from the game that he is working on.

Lol Otto.. I'm confused too. One seems to be a golf simulator program, the other seems to be something that we all are dying to get.. Which is which, who is whom?
