This is the first time I've created a thread in the many years I've been frequenting this site, so it better be good. I thought that it would be valuable to create a thread for people to put forward what they least liked in course designs..either intentional or otherwise. Perhaps future course designers will take note.
I'll start it off (I have more but this is definitely my own personal pet peeve):
Tee boxes that aren't level:
I used to design courses (I now have Vista and it requires...well more than I'm willing to do) and I understand why the "unlevel tee syndrome" occurs. You keep smoothing and jiggling and before you know it your tees aren't level. Please go back and relevel your tees before release. Its really easy. I've never played on a real course without level tees (even municpal courses). When I step up to a drive on this game I don't want to have to think "is the tee level?"
Interestingly enough you'll even find this problem with EA licensed courses. But that is not an excuse. Before you publish go to each tee and level it. Its really easy, and after you've spent umpty ump hours on the rest of the course, its well worth it.
Now...who's next? And keep the the suggestions generic and not personal (you guys wouldn't do that anyway). |

Sharp angles on the greens. There aren't cliffs or elevations of 4 feet on 20 foot putts on any greens I ever played. Greens don't have to be flat but make them more realistic. Slight rolls. There is nothing worse than putting 6 or 7 times because if you miss, the ball ends up a couple feet behind where you were standing when you hit your putt. |

Textures that don't match, real courses that are nowhere near accurate, and inconsistent bunker work. |

Here Here LinksPro
I agree very much with what you said. Would you/anyone pay GREEN FEES to play on a real golf course with the cliffs and valleys that are on some of the courses that we get here.
Also it would be nice if the designer would say that there course has been designed with having dry greens, or what ever. Plus Tournament Tees would be nice.
But I must add all n all the designers do GREAT WORK thanks very much.

P.S. If anyone watched the Memorial Tournament, They heard and saw when Jack Nickalus said he designs his courses with tough pin placement, BUT if you can hit it there you will have a fairly flat putt. Me...I like that...hitting to tight pins...but not with an 8 foot break...lol...you all no what I mean |
