I just installed TW2k8 on a PC that has Vista Business x64 on it and I am having an issue with the game stopping right as it is starting. Is there a list of compatablity issues with the game and my OS? I have a feeling that this is the problem.
Thanks |

There are a few thing you can try:
On desktop right click your game shortcut. Choose properties. Choose Compatibility Tab. Put check mark in "Disable desktop composition" Click apply and ok.
Also try this:
On desktop right click your game shortcut. Choose properties. Choose Compatibility Tab. and on bottom check box: Run as administrator

Thanks for answering back. I tried the suggestions made without success. I don't understand. I had this program on this PC before and didn't have this issue. There has got to be a compatability issue going on here somewhere, but I just cant't seem to get it. Any other suggestions other than wiping my HD. There are too many programs that I have accumulated to do that. :-( |

Are you trying to play one of the stock courses that come with the game? |

I don't ever get that far. I click on the icon, the disc appears as if the program is going to open(and I can hear the DVD start working), then goes a black screen, again it looks as if the program is going to open and then all at once I get the message stating that "TW2k8 has stopped working and windows will let me know if there is a solution to the problem". No solution is ever presented.
There are multiple logons on this PC and I don't have access to some of them. Unfortunate side affect of letting work set up the PC so that I could use it with their LAN system. That was done a long time ago. It still seems like a compatability issue with something that has been put on my PC. I was able to run the program since they set me up at work, so the problem is not clear to see.
Thoughts? |

It sounds as tho it may be a 'rights' issue. You say there are multiple log-on's on the PC, you should talk with the system administrator to find if he has you blocked from certain online areas and if he could give you permission to access these sites. |

Husker......... have you read through this thread, see link below:
http://www.coursedownloads.com/forum/posts.asp?post=7974&forum=11
It outlines a fairly common problem at startup that sounds a whole lot like your issue......... |

Otto - Trying the video card driver fix know. I have to re-install on my laptop since I took it off. I'll let everyone know.
Boze - This is my laptop that I used from home on my time to access business related items. Had nothing to do with using it at work? I was nice enough to let them jumble my laptop to accommodate them. Incidentally, I would be upset if anyone were playing games while they were supposed to be working as well. I feel a little upset that someone used that tone so flipantly on my thread. |

perhaps uninstall it, do registry clean (ccleaner or similar) then set up a new user account with full admin right install with that acct and give user rights to all other accts see if it works on new acct and/or other accts |

Actually, I'm thinking that it's a corrupted sound file...... I think there's a way to work around the wound file on the intro, but it's been years , now...... |

just rename the sounds folder EA SPORTS\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\Sounds
then if thats the issue, rename the main folder while renaming the subfolders then rename them back one at a time to see which one it might be
or the Video folder - but you said you tried the suggestions in the above link posted by Otto EA SPORTS\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\Data\Videos |

Yep, and tried the user account as well and it didn't work. Funny that the game loads and plays just fine on my desktop and not on my laptop. I can't think that it has to be some graphical setting or a compatability issue with another program. I have Madden 07 on the same laptop and it plays just wonderful.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks |

"Funny that the game loads and plays just fine on my desktop and not on my laptop. I can't think that it has to be some graphical setting or a compatability issue with another program. I have Madden 07 on the same laptop and it plays just wonderful." | The same game can have issues on a different PC, for various reasons. I posted on another thread that a baseball game I own plays fine on my one PC, but crashes every time I attempt to play it on my other PC.
I tracked down the issue to the video card (which are different on the two machines). I updated my card, and now I'm able to play the game on the PC it would never play on. The game still has compatibility issues as it will suddenly and randomly bring up the game's pause menu. But it doesn't crash to the desktop anymore, and I can actually get through a whole game now. |

Interesting bangus. The thing that I can't get over is that about 1.5 years ago this game played fine on the laptop. Hmmm.... |

"about 1.5 years ago this game played fine on the laptop" | Well that sounds like a different issue then, must be something other than the video card. |
