I can join a game , but when I HOST a game and load the course and conditions on LAN and start the game,
I get an Error " Game is already running, cannot start duplicate game name".
Yes, I have changed & changed & changed the name Gameranger as the game name set by gameranger when it gets to that screen.

Sounds almost like you already have the TW game running when you hit the Start button, which you shouldn't have running at all. GR does it all for you.
The very fact you mention that you can change the name 'gameranger' means you're going in there manually, which you shouldn't be doing at all.

Just host, let some-one join, then press start.
