So far I've only done it this way. First, in Windows I copy my Player anywhere other than in the game folders. In the game, then I pick the Gameface panel(s), make changes, and OK the save. Then, back in Windows I copy that Player into a new folder, say "Tranz odd". So I have 2 copies with the same Player name I can switch in and out when the game's not running.

But from what I've seen online, a few other players seem to have several gamefaces for the same player name and can switch them very fast when TW's not running. Is there a script for this or some other trick?

I got the answer. This works for playing on Gameranger anyway. Create a different gameface with a different name (of course). Go into offline Custom game and remove any other players. This makes sure it's the active avatar when Gameranger starts up the game. When done playing a round in Gameranger, if you want to switch back, don't exit the TW game but go back into Custom, Add your usual player, and Remove the newer avatar.
